I mean... Bottom line the Big east has always been a revolving door. It has had Public Institutions at times...and it has not had them at times... it currently does not have any public institutions. UConn would be foolish to drop football and return to the Big Least...

I love newspapers who's purpose is to harm local colleges. Unbelievable.

thats tix distributed. 21K people aren't buying uconn tix these days unless its womens hoops (respect).

I didn't say that.

21k = tickets distributed
10k = people that showed up

I'm saying that I'd bet that the number of tickets sold (the most important number) is closer to the 21k than the 10k.

you'ins is a colloquial term in southeast Ohio. Cincinnati is in the southwest part of the state.

The media sucks.

You'ins works in Athens, OH in the SE of the state (Appalachia) where Ohio U is.

SW Ohio, namely, Cincy is a different animal. We wish we were able to break off from Ohio and form our own city state.

Hammering away at UConn does not help UConn. Connecticut is a member of the conference.

Schools like Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston, and the rest of us benefit from membership with a basketball blueblood.

Connecticut football can compete.

We are all in a position where a single bad hire can devastate our football success, our attendance, and undermine our perceived value.

Geez- Houston was asleep for decades after being left out of the Big XII. Attendance for football and basketball was weak. Today, Houston is demonstrating how to build a winning program in today's environment.

Connecticut is not any different.

Memphis attendance problems

Here is an article about Memphis college football attendance problems.... attendance was down at 9 out of 12 AAC programs... attendance is down nationwide for college football... and also for most every sport in the U.S.

this is not just a UConn issue... or a Memphis issue or a Tulsa issue..

this is not just a UConn issue... or a Memphis issue or a Tulsa issue..

Several reasons why announced attendance averages are down nationwide:

1) Viewing habits have changed...as it wasn't that long ago (approx 30 years ago or so), when teams were limited to just 3 national tv games per year and the only way to see your team play (sometimes at home or on the road) was to be there in person as now that's not needed...as most can probably view every game their team plays...from their 75" TV to their 7" phone/tablet.

2) Approx 2 dozens former Div I-AA teams have jumped up to Div I-A G5 football level over the past 2 decades and a majority of them draw less than 25,000 fans per game...which has lowered Div I-A attendance averages as a whole.

3) Most new stadiums built today and/or those that have gone under a major stadium renovation have added revenue generating premium amenity areas while decreasing "old" bleacher seating capacity....as the game today is REVENUE and not "how many people can we squeeze into old bleacher bench seating".

4) Schedules dictated solely by your tv partners...which could mean home games on Thur/Fri nights which may not be convenient for many...or Noon games in the South in the hot boiling summer. (Heck, UCF hosted a basketball game last night on Thursday that didn't tip off till after 9 pm. Barely any little kids were in attendance when for most games, you see them all over the place as responsible parents didn't have them out till near midnight on a school night).
