in Nashville
FINAL:
77 Liberty
60 Lipscomb

I'm new to the conference but I thought that was extremely odd scheduling.

I thought that was odd too. Obviously we are new too.

Feb 13 @ Nashville

I expect a much better game out of Liberty this time around.

It can't get worse, right? Actually, it can ALWAYS get worse but a 20-point loss is about the same as a 30-point loss, 40-point loss, etc.

Definitely a huge game for not only A-Sun tournament seeding but strength of schedule for March. I am glad we have each other to bolster it!

We will help in a couple of years. Very very young...

FGCU will be back soon as well.

I'm not saying you can't have more than one rival but it would take a significant effort on our part to replace Belmont. Beating them in the postseason would chip away at that but there is only so much you can do to replace a long-time, crosstown rival that is played twice annually despite being in different conferences.

I don't know who their A-Sun rival is but they have more history in the conference than we do but Liberty is off to a great start. I definitely agree with you from a Liberty point of view that Lipscomb is our A-Sun rival.

We will not replace Belmont as their prime rival. I wouldn’t even expect to. However, within the A-Sun, I expect we will be.

I did not get a chance to watch, but I have heard that Liberty handed it to us in the first half and it was just too much to overcome. Looking forward to more great games in the years to come!

I don't know how it works but I hope this means that no matter what happens in the A-SUN tournament, one or the other gets the NIT automatic bid if they both aren't selected to the NCAA tournament.

Agreed.
I see no way both go to the NCAA tournament.
One will get NCAA and the other NIT.
And I think that may be the only A-Sun teams in post-season play.

I disagree with no others in postseason play. NJIT will surely get into the CBI or CIT.

I agree with this. There are just too many spots to fill and P5 schools are likely to pass on non-NCAA and non-NIT bids. Too bad the rest of the conference has such a poor record overall. Nobody else is above .500.

Whichever of us ends up in the NIT, I think we have a legit shot at winning it if we get on a shooting streak.

Good shooting teams can cause major issues for bigger schools. Both LUs can certainly get hot from 3.

Yall have some stuff in common and both really competitive at the moment. That is grounds for a type of rivalry.

UNA anf Lipscomb will likely develop into a rivalry sooner. Just 2hrs away, fans can travel to the other school easily and be back without having to spend the night if they dont want to.

I know we traveled to Nashville very well when we played them, and so did they when they came to Florence.
They even brought their cheerleaders with them. That is the making of a true conference rivalry.
