People buy shares of the Green Bay Packers that are worthless. Maybe that is what a Scott is hoping for with the PAC12Net?

Worthless is not exactly correct.

If you choose to "sell" your stock back to the team, you'll get what you paid for it. You also get invitations to the annual shareholders meeting and the chance to vote for the board.

Grant it, it's not like owning Amazon stock, but just knowing that you helped contribute to your team and can legally say you own part of the team makes it worth it.

That sounds like a better deal than what Scott is trying to pawn off on ‘investors’.
