I don't know what you're referring to.
I do know that when Obama, who was not known as a prolific liar, was addressing Congress, one of the congressmen was so consumed with vitriol that he shouted, "You lie!".
During the Trump administration, despite the fact that Trump is a historically prolific liar (maybe the biggest liar ever in politics), none of the Democrats have shouted at him during a speech.
There you go, support for the idea that Democrats have at least the ability to be civil (not arguing that they are civil all the time).
That is it? Of course Obama was a prolific liar. You changed "civil" to "liar". Like I said you outed yourself. We all know who you are "Mr. Moderate"

What's funny to me is that you think that you are exposing me as a liberal, when actually you're exposing yourself as someone that's not smart enough to engage in civil discussion. When you're actually trying to debate something, you're just flailing.
Prove me wrong. How did I change civil to liar? Or do you lack basic reading comprehension as my hypothesis suggests?

Not invalidating anything, just making an observation.
I wish we had something like the UK's Prime Minister's questions. It would be great to see the two sides get rowdy.
If I were ever elected to congress, I think I'd pass on SOTU. I don't do polite when the person speaking sucks very well.

Ok, now I definitely feel bad that I did that. And there really no way to unring that bell.
But I think both the discussions on the difference in the civility levels of R's v D's and what makes an independent are important, so I'm ready to engage if someone else wants to take a stab at it.

Another thread derailed.
That said---it seems to me the reason Democrats might want to return to fairness is the Republicans stuck the Dem's own tactics right up their butt when the Repub's got the upper hand. It was the first time they actually played the game like Democrats and Im glad they made them pay. Now that Democrats see what goes around is going to come around---maybe the Dems's will treat the minority with more respect for this short two year stint where the Dem's will rule. If they do, I suspect the Democrats will fare better when the Republicans recapture the House in 2020.

Ok, this makes it seem like the two were both engaged in the same level of antipathy and vindictiveness over the past few years. The Hastert rule? That's the Republicans. The Biden rule? That's the Republicans. Stating their goal as the majority was to be obstructionists and unseat the president? Republicans.
Democrats aren't saints, but what are you comparing this kind of stuff to?

So the rules the Democrats set in place or did was ok but the Republicans shouldn’t use them because it’s unfair? You keep outing yourself. I bid a good day to you sir. You talk out both sides of your mouth and play the victim.

This, Dems have been the less civil of the two. Hell, Dems make mock effigies of the president to kill. Pelosi disinvited Trump from giving the SOTU to be petty and he responded with pettiness and cancelled her flight. The mistreatment of W. and Trump by the Dems vastly outweighs anything that was done to Obama. And the Kavanaugh hearings were a despicable showing for the Dems. Trying to destroy a person with a stellar professional and personal reputation because they didnt want a conservative on the supreme court. There was nothing credible about the accusers testimony.

I consider it the other way around. Any party that follows the mantra, “Keep ‘em dumb, keep ‘em poor, keep ‘em dependent on handouts, and you will keep ‘em voting democrat,” is inherently vile and evil. And if you want to argue that’s not the democrat mantra, kindly start by pointing out examples where they have strayed from it.
I posted this once and got a response that democrats don’t want to keep them dumb because they are the ones who want to spend more on education. Given that our education system is doing a good job of keeping them dumb now, throwing more money at it hardly seems inconsistent with keeping them dumb. And the welfaretrap plantation is clearly designed to keep them dependent on handouts. And a steady stream of poor and uneducated illegal immigrants who don’t speak English are the perfect class to exploit on that plantation, if only they can become voters.
And republicans are too stupid to come up with anything better.
No, I’m not willing to give Democrats the high moral ground in this argument. But I do admire their cunning and dedication.

You picked the description of shouting “liar” as being uncivil. Now I ask you this, how many names have you heard the leadership of the democrat party call the president just in the last month? No unbiased thinking individual would have made the declaration you did. Only a biased, therefore liberal would say the democrats are the more civil party and use the example you did as evidence.

Hastert was a Republican. Even if you argue that Biden was championing the so-called Biden rule, he had no ability to lead the Democrats in that.
The "Biden rule" was created by Mitch McConnell.

I agree with this, but to clarify, I was saying that the underlying philosophy of the Democrats (postmodernism) leads them in stupid directions (e.g. selective social justice morality), but I would agree that they are also stupid at accomplishing their goals.
The Trump administration is the first time in a long time the Democrats have looked competent at pushing their agenda (though Obama was 'fine' at it).
