The only way I would say we possibly get 2 bids is if Rice and Middle Tennessee State (current RPI of 58, 2nd best in the league behind Rice's 37) pretty much run the table for the rest of the regular season, and then meet in the finals of the conference tournament. Then you'd be talking about a 27-3 Rice team (I think if my math is right) facing a 26-5 MTSU team, and both teams' RPIs would likely be in the upper 30's to low 40's. There's a lot of hoops to be played before then, but if that unlikely scenario plays out, then both teams deserve a bid despite what happens in the finale.
As far as Mulkey goes, her presence should definitely help us upgrade our NC schedule next year. I also hope both Erika O. and Mulkey get invitations to try out for the Pan American Games this summer (in Lima, Peru).
What has happened to Arianna McCurry? Is she injured. She never plays.

No she's healthy. She just needs some seasoning. She should get some PT against some of the lower-tier CUSA teams coming up after this week.

Rice basketball woman up to 78 in RPI

Yes, even if our RPI remains in the mid-to-upper 30s, and it would probably fall into the high 30s/low-to-mid 40s given who we play the remainder of the way. Keep in mind that while RPI is taken into account, even more important for at large births is the presence of signature wins, of which we have none...and our best wins are against teams (UAB, MTSU) with RPIs outside the Top 75. We have only played 3 teams ranked in the Top 50 (#16 A&M, #27 UNC and UCLA) and lost to all by 10+ points.
Conversely, look at the ACC (6 teams currently ranked in the Top 25 + #27 UNC + a quality Clemson team) and Pac-12 (5 teams ranked in the Top 25)-- both of whom are likely to get 7 - 8 teams selected to the post-season.
I want to be optimistic, and I do think we deserve better, especially since Maulkey missed those 3 OOC road losses, but past precedent says we need to win the conference tournament to make the dance.
Fact check: we lost to UCLA by only 9 points. (Not “10+”)
Our first two losses (to ranked teams) were only by an average of 10 points (A&M was only by 11). That’s close in WBB, (especially when you’re without your top player)

Erika is our top player. Mulkey potentially is our top player but she's not quite there quite yet.

+1000. Erica is on pace to average a double-double, and will likely be named CUSA Player of the Year, and deservedly so. And it's her reliable FT shooting down the stretch that has allowed us to close out numerous games.

Agreed!
Women are taking care of business and putting people on notice. Let's make sure to give Langley a few more reasons to stick around. She seems to be the real deal.

She's played 30-plus minutes in her last 4 games. Her stamina is pretty good for someone who is 6-9. But don't expect too much quite yet, her progress is amazing but I think she'll be an even more dominant player next year.

Does WBB have the transfer issue MBB does?

It's not as prevalent but if a women's player graduates (like Erika will this spring), they can transfer somewhere else and play right away. Same rules as the men. I don't believe Mulkey is on pace to graduate this year in three years, so my guess is Erika and Mulkey will both be Owls next year.
Let's just worry about Western Kentucky for now.

Yes, they are...and they're current roommates.
The only issue with Erica is how eager she is to start med school. Hopefully, knowing the potential of next year's team, she'll opt for graduate work in biology or the equivalent, and team up with Mulkey for their senior seasons.
