I do think it’s interesting based on the top 5 but I really don’t give two poos about 6-12. I am interested to see who gets left out of the tourney because I think that rule is absolutely bush league garbage pitiful pathetic and turd burger eating rule that the bottom 2 schools get left out.

Winning both pods two and pod three awards a seed (6 or 11) that has a path to the final without facing the 1 seed.

Sometimes you see talk of “sandbagging” games to drop down to seeds like that. Under this format, you can play your heart out to win pod 2 and not have to face ODU until the final.

And as you alluded to.. pod 3 really has it all on the line... last chance to make it, dude.
And it even works out that if you win your last two games (looking at you UTEP and Charlotte) you can make up two games & a tiebreaker in the standings.

Downside on pod 2 is other that the winner (who gets to play the pod 3 winner) the other four teams will all face each other again in opening round at Frisco. That downside to me is worth all of the upside. Of course you might still see someone sandbag to take a 10 seed instead of the 8/9.

As a fan of a team that’s been left out of the tourney, ahem, more than once, I will say that I endorse the cutoff rule.

At least prove you can mix in a few wins and postseason is warranted.

Also... yay us... we finally clinched our tourney berth yesterday after going 0-fer-Florida last month.

But even if you think the rule is bush league... it did give real significance to the pod 3 games.
