SEC Network and Directv in SEC footprint
What package does a directv customer in the SEC footprint have to get in order to receive the SEC Network?

The reason I am asking is I am visiting family in Jefferson Georgia and they have Directv and I can get BTN programming but when I clicked on the SECN it said it was a pay event. I thought that was very weird. Does a Directv customer in SEC footprint have to get a higher package then to get SECN than they do BTN?

Yes a different tier, however when I was with Direct TV the BTN was in the same tier. But if the carriage fee for the BTN dropped it might have given them a lower tier but that should help them with their ad rates. I have Uverse. All of the sports channels beyond ESPN and ESPN2 and FS1 and FS2 are on a pricier tier.

It was interesting because this tier gets ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, FS1 and BTN(which I know would be cheaper here but I was surprised) it would make the package but no SECN. I know you have mentioned the SECN was getting higher rates inside their footprint, I wonder if that is part of that equation(although this is only Directv so I don't know about other providers).

I think higher tier --> higher rate (think HBO, etc.), but not necessarily higher total revenue.

RE: SEC Network and Directv in SEC footprint
DirecTV in north-central SC has BTN, SECN, BYU TV, and others are all on Choice packages. ESPN, ESN, ESPNU, ESPN2, NFL, FS1, CBS SN, and a few others more obsure are also available without pay-per-view.

One pays extra to receive HBO, STRZ, Showtime, TMC, MAX, FLIX, and EXTR. SUND is on Choice.
