We now see why so many of Trump's Businesses failed. This situation wouldn't even exist if he didn't create it. Truth is, he's responsible for all the chaos that surrounds him.

CB is apparently a little bit shy about answering that question solohawk. He knows that he can't come out and say the answer or it would not look good for his far left Socialist Democrats. He knows that he can't come out and say, "The don't want to pay them because they just want to keep this matter ongoing. All we Democrats care about are the perceived political points we think we might get, not doing or job or anything good for the American citizens".

If the shutdown is hurting individuals, like my friend CG Hawk, then let's pay them and take them out of this game.

Does anyone disagree that's a bad idea?

Yeah, trump and wilber ross disagree. They will lose all their leverage when these people can just go to the grocery store and make deals or take out loans. The Democrats need to let the president put the wall on layaway like he wants. Then this will be over.

The real solution: Democrats should offer not to investigate, impeach and lock trump up in exchange for DACA, Putin's head on a stick, two milk duds and an open government.

I'll take a stab at it. I honestly don't know why they didn't sign it. It goes against everything that they preached about during this shutdown. It definitely makes them look bad and they definitely dropped the ball.

But I have a couple question if one of you guys can answer. I made this comment in another thread. If the bill would have passed would Trump sign it? I noticed the article said the the dems would lose their leverage if the bill was passed. How so? Isn't Trump using the shutdown to get money for the wall? So he is using the shutdown as leverage as well correct? I think Trump would have signed it if the bill had wall money attached to it.

Also this bill was first introduced and failed to get passed 2 weeks ago. Why wasn't it aired by all of the media outlets including Fox then. It was first mentioned in a tweet by Senator Dan. After that a small news article. It finally made a little traction in a 2:30 news video on fox but the senator who tweeted it only spoke about it for 30 seconds. There has not been any talks about it from Trump, McConnell, white house press or even the VP. If it had been mentioned by them then I stand corrected.

I think the dems dropped the ball on this and I also think they did Trump a solid because I don't believe he would have signed off on this bill.

Voting against opening the government to own the cons.

Looks like she has the same schizo-tendencies as omar, where she can't help but lash out at those who criticize her, only to later delete it.

Senate Bill 21 was brought up yesterday by Senator Kennedy. It was a clean bill that would do nothing but give the 5th branch of the U.S. military their earned paychecks. The bill was hotlined by bipartisan members (even more Democrats than Republicans in the Senate) It wouldn't fund USCG operations, in essence keeping the USCG as a "DHS Pawn" but doing the right thing by paying military members. It was a CLEAN BILL. How often do you see clean bills proposed.

Sen Schumer quickly squashed it by not even allowing a simple "yay/nay" vote by standing up and objecting to paying the Coast Guard. Then Sen Bennett (D) of Colorado stood up and did the same thing, railing for 25+ minutes about how much he hates Trump without ever mentioning the Coast Guard. Then he stood up and did the same thing again for another 10 minutes. Ignoring the fact this was a clean bill presented to do nothing but meet congressional obligations to pay the military. Senator Schumer shamed his own party by refusing this, when it had bipartisan support and could have, even if for only a small minute, restored some sort of respect to Congress.

This was the most shameful and disgusting act of Congress I've witnessed in my 37 years, by far. BY FAR.

God bless you my friend. Support from friends like you goes a long way and is keeping the Coast Guard sane and bearable right now.

They dont care. President ought to sign an EO stating the Senate and House along with their staff do not get paid during any government shutdown. Would love to see the lawsuits on that one.

It really sucks that Chuck & Nancy are doing this.

and 10 democrats. I would do everything possible to bring this to a vote every day. Tomorrow it might be 15 democrats, the day after might be 20. Eventually enough will have to vote for it, then we find out what Trump will do.

So why is Pelosi and the Dem caucus voting against it.

Sounds like an excellent thing to send to Trump and dare him to veto

Exactly. If Dems are tired of Trump using federal workers as pawns, let's take them out of the equation. If Trump has a problem with that he can veto and suffer the consequences.

Instead Dems are the ones refusing to allow people to be paid

The only logical conclusion is they dont want people to be paid unless it is 100% on their terms.

In the meantime families like CG are suffering
