1) Trump gives up on his wall.
2) Trump provides significant and incremental over Obama concessions on DACA, asylum seekers, and TPS.

Of course, Trump can always declare a national emergency and rip out Hurricane Harvey funding and military funding for his wall. That would result in the following

1) An immediate House vote on rescinding the emergency, which would pass and would put many House Republicans in a terrible position
2) Legal action
3) A guarantee that any bill to reopen the government will have specific language banning wall funding
4) Passive resistance along the border to the building of the wall
5) A promise by some Democrats to use those new powers to enact climate change, gun control, and health care legislation when they are in power.

Ahh yes, the old conservative "Just surrender and hope that your attackers don’t cut you into long thin strips." approach to politics.

New sheriff in town, Tom.

I don't think so. It sounds like too many republicans (RINOs) are willing to back the Dems, i.e. no wall.

Since RINO alexander is my senator I'm about to contact his office and express my, uh, displeasure with his vote.

I'm not surprised by his vote. I'm glad he's not running again.

I'm surprised by Isaakson. I'm going to have to write him again.

I'm not. When it comes to the Senate these guys and gals know they have 6 years and almost any single vote could be forgotten by the time re-election comes around again. In Georgia Isaakson walked the line which is why I was uncomfortable with him then. Just another lifer politician cashing in at our expense. All votes for the right come from all of the counties not in Greater Atlanta or in Savannah. As soon as they are elected to the State Senate where do they reside? Atlanta. That's where business and government meet in Georgia. A little lobby money and the protection for voting state pork back home and they are co-opted. He's voting his wallet Bullet. Some of his donors, likely from Atlanta, or Nationally, didn't want him voting with Trump.

Quite honestly it's hard to trust any of these weasels and that goes for Dems as well, unless they are radical left which is the basis for their support. Far right is the same way. The last few elections have been about both parties abandoning faith in those who claim the center, or to be moderate.
