Birmingham Iron to Honor UAB Football at Inaugural Game on 2/10
The new Professional Football Team in Birmingham, The Birmingham Iron of the AAF, will honor the UAB Football Team at halftime of their first game on 2/10 "for their amazing accomplishments."

Also, the first 20,000 fans will receive a Blackout T-Shirt.

Go Blazers, Go Iron, Go Birmingham!

Got season tickets also. A friend and I got Village Club tickets. Suppose to
have all inclusive food and drinks.
Noticed they have taken down the Pregame tailgate tickets. Hope they sold out
all of them.

They honored UAB today again by cutting the 2 former UAB players who were temporarily on the roster.

Hurray! Where do I sign up for season tickets?

Getting to 52 out of 75 players someone is going to be left out.

It's pro ball not youth sports where everyone gets a trophy. Pick the best and leave the rest.

Not much motivation for me to go with free tickets much less buy some to watch a bunch of sec cast offs and some others. They are targeting an audience that I hang with. Each to their own. I hope it’s a success it’s just that I’m not motivated.

Didn't seem to have any problems leaving Alabama or Auburn players out.

So at halftime of the first game they will honor UAB football.

I'm guessing halftime of the 2nd home game they will honor Trent Richardson.

These leagues that try the regional recruiting always seem to be clusters.

The CBA did it with the Bham Bandits (flopped in Bham)

I just haven't seen any indication in recent pro football team history in Birmingham that the people in the area care anymore for it.

I'm more likely to go to the new soccer team's games than the football team's games.

I am hopeful the AAF Iron will last long enough to get a chance to play in the new BJCC stadium. Perhaps the league will get some kind of TV contract so it will have a chance to survive that long. The local teams in the past usually did fairly well in local support, but the various leagues (WFL, USFL, XFL, CFL-America, NFL-Europe) folded around them.

We got Legion season tickets instead. Having been burned by the XFL, CFL and, World League, I'm going to wait until year two check out the Iron (if there is a year two.)

The Legion are working very closely with UAB, have some former UAB players, and are playing on UAB's campus.

I look forward to attending both soccer & football regardless if any Blazers are on the teams, exactly like I do for the Barons & Bulls.

NFL Network got the TV rights and are broadcasting them

This. Every week will have games on CBSSN, NFL Network, and TNT, which is a fairly impressive channel lineup. This Saturday will also have games on CBS, I guess to try and get people interested to begin with.

Another spring semi-pro football team in Birmingham?

Yeah, I'll be giving that a miss. BTDT.
