RE: Updates on Sutton and Max @ The Senior Bowl
@ChrisTrapasso on Twitter:

Sutton Smith said he got new cleats for today after he’d been slipping a lot the first two days. Two good reps in 1 vs. 1 against BC’s Tommy Sweeney. Smith won with ease.

RE: Updates on Sutton and Max @ The Senior Bowl
Linebacker: Sutton Smith had a rough go as a pure EDGE on limited reps but his positional change to off-ball linebacker looked good. The most fluid mover in his transitions of the group and he showed improvement (coach-ability) every day. Terrill Hanks not only looks like a superhero, but his burst rivals that of Flash as well. Great physicality in coverage with the athleticism to chase anyone down. David Long makes the list essentially by being around the ball routinely and being just big enough for the NFL; linebacker along with running back were the two positions that were the least inspiring.

This is not a list of the best players at the Senior Bowl or who we think is going to be drafted the highest but rather our All-Senior Bowl team based on the performances we witnessed live or on film.

RE: Updates on Sutton and Max @ The Senior Bowl
Sutton is too good of a football player to be relegated to just special teams. Eventually he will find the field and make plays. As I speculated earlier(and unanimously disagreed with) he will either end up as an inside LB in a 3-4 or an outside LB in a 4-3. No way was he ever going to be an edge or OLB in a 3-4. Smith has such great instinct, drive and technique to not be an asset for a defense.

Wisconsin FB and former Huskie commit Alex Ingold just leveled somebody with a block.

RE: Updates on Sutton and Max @ The Senior Bowl
After first half of Senior Bowl Scharping has played a full quarter at left tackle. Did very well. Maybe gave up 1 qb pressure at worst. I think Ferguson drove him back a little on one play. Otherwise really good so far. Sutton got in for 3 plays at OLB and just stood there. Had coverage responsibility. Hopefully they let him loose in the 2nd half.

Updates on Sutton and Max @ The Senior Bowl
Scharping has played 80% of the game and looked pretty solid but Sutton not getting much PT at all. They have him in a MLB for these last few minutes of the game though. Was hoping he’d get more of a chance to rush

RE: Updates on Sutton and Max @ The Senior Bowl
Smith got maybe 4 reps on the last drive of the game for his D. Made 1 open field tackle. Was LB in 4-2-5 nickel. Never rushed the qb. Just dropped into coverage.

Scharping saw a full quarters worth of work in the second half just like the first. Performed well.

RE: Updates on Sutton and Max @ The Senior Bowl
Max is a great pass blocker. He held up well all game during his reps. I think his stock is rising after this week in Mobile.

Sutton had limited action today.

Disappointed with Sutton’s pt but he didn’t look comfortable at the LB. hope he develops before pro day. Concerned he won’t be drafted. He’s too good of a player not to find a home somewhere. Understand his decision but would love to have seen him back. The same issues would have remained so not sure what his best option would have been. Would have gone out a record holder though.

Add him to the list of decommits that could have done big things as a Huskie.

Felt weird seeing Alec Ingold at FB knowing 4-5 years ago he could have been our Lynch 2.0... kid was a damn stud, glad he got his dream offer from Wisconsin, but I’ll always think about what could have been...

Hope Sutton or Sharping fall to the bears somehow later in the draft

Love Sutton Smith. Two of the most enjoyable seasons I've spent watching a Huskie dominate opponents in my 35 years as a fan. But I just don't see him being drafted. Probably latch on with a team after the draft. He has a long road ahead of him despite being such a great athlete and competitor. There are a lot of those who never make the NFL due to size, position, other reasons.

Sounding like Sutton may fall to wherever the Bears want him to. Hoping that Max doesn’t fall anywhere near the Bears. I think they don’t pick until the back half of the third round and I hope Max is gone before that.

Sutton will get drafted I believe. Just look at some recent LBs from Bear's drafts: Joel Iyiegbuniwe in the 4th round. Michael Okwo in the 3rd. Khaseem Green in the 4th. LBs make for great special team players so I think there's a safety net involved in drafting them based on being good athletes. Sutton will crush the combine and get drafted by the 5th round.
