MyBB CUSA Basketball Thursday 1/24 (and Wed)
Col Bask is obligated to choose the F_U matchup on Wednesday as the Game of the Day since it's the only game of the day. This game might actually be pretty fun though. For Thursday, Col Bask puts bias back to the west as #1 UNT hosts #4 UAB.

All times Eastern

Wednesday, January 23

7:00 FIU at FAU [cusatv] (Col Bask's GOTD)

Thursday, January 24

8:00 Charlotte at UTSA [espn+]
8:00 MTSU at Rice [cusatv]
8:00 WKU at USM [stadium]
8:00 UAB at UNT [beIN sports] (Col Bask's GOTD)
9:00 Marshall at LT [cbs sports network]
9:00 ODU at UTEP [espn+]

I am wondering how UTSA is going to react after the back to back losses they had this past week.

FAU had a decent lead early but it’s FIU 40-34 at the half.

FIU ends up pulling this one out 78-74. Where are all the Florida guys & gals? The versions of both teams are actually pretty good this year compared to most. Both were a handful at Diddle. Stapleton was only 1-6 from deep, he shot like Klay Thompson vs WKU.

It does raise an important philosophical question: if a basketball game was played in Florida, and no posters are here to comment on it, did it actually happen?

On a more sensible level, La. Tech. is currently favored by 4 over Marshall this evening. That surprises me.

Winning in Ruston is TOUGH. Brick laying campaign against Charlotte aside, LT is a good team and Marshall is gonna have to bring it.

Always nice to have the superior school (and the good guys) win! 05-stirthepot

But seriously, man, we really choked there. We blew a ten point lead, but thankfully FAU missed two layups/tip-ins to tie the game. I guess a win is a win, but we need to clean up our play down the stretch.

That was total BS on our student's part after that game and I apologize. I do know how it happened as I sit about 20 feet from where the water bottle was throw. Several ODU players directed the F bomb at the student section after the officials made the correct call in not counting the basket. I have sat in the section near the end of the opposing teams bench since the Haskins Center opened in 70s. I have noticed that in the past few years all teams seem to be engaging in trash talking to fans/students. Do fans yell some outrageous stuff? Yes, but they have always done that and the stuff that was yelled at opposing teams in the past was far worse then today. The difference is that teams in the past just ignored. I yelled stuff in the past too. I didn't get it until my daughter played college sports and I heard stuff that was said toward/about her and her teammates. Sorry to get off topic but I hope UTEP fans and all CUSA fans learn to appreciate the effort of all the athletes. I also would hope that the coaches in CUSA would do a better job of teaching their players to ignore the noise and not engage with fans.

I think the annual 2000 Miles of Mild Disdain rivalry game will actually be sneaky good tonight. When their stadium is full, it is a really imposing place to play. UTEP has always been a pesky team at the very least and I don't expect any less of the Miners tongiht.

When OLD Dominion plays in OLD El Paso you can expect a battle for the AGES.

I’m excited for the UAB @ UNT game tonight. The current #1 vs the current #4. This could be a matchup we see again come conference tourney/pod time.
