odd that the mavs would be ranked behind a cpl. teams they have beaten.

How does RPI calculate into the new NET ranking? It seems to be all over the place.

so the new NET ranking forgives weaker scheduling, while rewarding blowout wins. What would prevent NCAA tourney teams from scheduling tons of weaker mid-major teams to exploit the system?

So, about the idea that these new rankings would help non-major conference teams...

Like everything, it becomes a self-licking ice cream cone. Team X is better because the play in Conference Y. A loss in Conference Y doesn't hurt as much because Team X is losing to better teams. Team X won't play away from home against anyone unless they are in a major conference, so if they lose, it will be to a team from another good conference, but on the road. If Team X happens to lose to an inferior team from an inferior conference, well that is an one-off occurrence.
