You mean the foul by Gueye that injured Aurrecoechea? I agree, didn't look flagrant.
Aurrecoechea was doing a lot of damage though, probably wouldn't have been as close with him in.

Pretty cool that we very well could have three 6-1 teams heading into next Saturday's games. Aggies will also likely be pulling ahead of either GCU or CSUB for 2nd place in the WAC standings.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it's just a precaution.

RE: WAC basketball week 12
Good win last night by GCU. They did a great job of double teaming and trapping Milan Acquaah, which resulted in one of his worst games of the season with only 12 points and six turnovers. CBU had 12 turnovers in the first half but hung in the game by shooting 8 of 10 from the three point line in the first half.

Carlos Johnson was unreal. CBU had no answer for him as he scored 18 consecutive points in the 2nd half. He ended up with 26 points and zero turnovers. For a team that did not have Oscar Frayer due to an ankle injury, they played good defense. GCU had 10 steals to 1 for CBU and the pressure from their defense definitely bothered CBU. GCU seems like they should be a good three point shooting team, but they are not. Michael Finke was 0-4 and Lever 2 for 7, but they look like they can shoot.

The attendance was 4,948 and it was very loud. The fans got into it and the majority of the crowd was wearing white "Beat GCU" t-shirts. This is going to be a great rivalry. There were also a number of GCU fans at the game and they do make a lot of noise. There was a group sitting behind me and they were somewhat annoying. I can see that it would be easy to dislike GCU.

If GCU continues to bring Carlos Johnson off the bench and can improve on their three point shooting, they are going to be tough to beat. They have a nice blend of size and quickness. They play unselfishly. They play defense. They just need to knock down their shots.

Nice analysis here Bobcat. Oscar Frayer is GCU's best 3-point shooter so having him out certainly hurt us in that category. Even with Frayer though, we are not a great 3-point shooting team. CBU, on the other hand, seems like they cannot miss. They were making several from NBA range. Shooting 80% from 3-point land for a half is incredible. If CBU can cut down on their turnovers and unnecessary fouls, they can certainly beat anyone in the WAC.

Not too many people (if any) predicted these three teams to be at the top of the WAC at the midway point. My predictions were NMSU, GCU and then Seattle (very wrong about Seattle). I had CSUB battling it out with CBU for 5th place.
Impressive start for CSUB. Should be a great game on Saturday against GCU & CSUB. Hopefully the Lopes can withstand the tenacious defense CSUB plays and get another road victory.

Seattle fans complaining that there were drunk fans at UMKC game is priceless. Its college

Tough season with injuries for Seattle though. All that matters is health come tournament time. Roos have a little injury bug themselves but nothing like Seattle.

Joshadam the WAC showing that UMKC vs Chicago St miracle is not cool. That ruined our season. I think that game is a record for UMKC attendance. Nice rivalry we had back then.

2nd place. LOL! We haven't played as many games as GCU or CSUB in the conference but whatever floats your boat. Just know the two "1st place" teams losses are both to the "3rd place" team thats 16-4 and a higher RPI and KenPom than both. LOL!

That was a dirty punk @ss play. Hope he gets some nice pay back at the Pan Am.

I know the NCAA doesn't honor the "clear path foul" like in the NBA. But really! There was no way Gueye was going to block Ivan's shot. He just hammers Ivan and walks away without any concern for what type of injury he inflicted... just to trying and stop an indefensible dunk.

I really hope the injury is not season ending and Ivan is able to return soon. He plays hard and clean.

True statement Dancing. However, it seems like that should be more concerning for NMSU fans rather than something to hold over GCU and CSUB. The Aggies already have a loss to a team other than GCU/CSUB since GCU and CSUB have only lost to NMSU at NMSU. If all three teams hold their home courts then NMSU finishes with 3 losses while GCU & CSUB end with only 2. Not saying this is what is going to happen, just saying that your logic seems a bit flawed.

NMSU ended UVU's 22 game home winning streak. Once, GCU and/or CSUB beats UVU on their court, then GCU/CSUB can speculate about finishing ahead of NMSU. Right now, NMSU is 3-1 on the road and 2-0 at home. We still have 6 home games and four road games; two of which are at Chicago State and UMKC... The week of Feb. 7th and 9th is very important to NMSU/GCU/CSUB for the conference race. But GCU and CSUB still have the hurdle of playing each other twice and playing at Utah Valley... and depending on the return of Matej Kavas, Seattle U. might be no pushover either.

UVU won despite being short handed, which is clearly becoming a trend in the WAC. A win is a win is a win. Hopefully we will pick up a W on Wednesday and get healthy for the following week.

UMKC got a nice win. That gives them a leg up in the race for 5th.

They aren't complaining about their being drunk ppl at the UMKC game. There are complaints on how UMKC admin flew these guys in put them behind the Seattle U bench and would belligerently drunk yelling personal obscenities to the players and to the coaches. Apparently the UMKC admin after being alerted about it encouraged it and felt it was all in good fun apparently. Again this is one side of the story but why would those connected to Seattle U make this up?
