RE: Ocasio-Cortez says Climate Change will end the Earth in 12 years.
When I was in the 5th grade in Science class we learned that plants absorb CO2 and release O2. Doesn't that mean, the more CO2 that is released the more plants will grow and therefore release more O2? Seems like a win win. But if not just Blow China, Russia and India off the map and the problem is solved since they create more than 40% of the Earth's emissions.

That 40% is percentage of man made CO2. The earth itself creates far more than all of man.

Tell Ocasio-Cortez to move to China and try to make a difference there instead.

The USA has made some decent reductions by largely swapping to more natural gas usage. We're still pretty bad per capita considering. But yeah, Asia and soon Africa are where you're seeing the huge increases in carbon emissions and where it is going to continue increasing. How we combat that, I have no idea

therefore, if we continue to promote alternatives coupled with maximizing our current resources along the way would make sense, eh?

We can debate climate change or global warming or all the different methods used or whatever you want to call it all day long. But increasing CO2 emissions WILL make the planet harsher to live on more quickly over time. If CO2 emissions continue to increase, things are going to get worse. Can anyone specifically say how bad it is going to get? No. We dont know everything and models are very often wrong, but we know something we as a species arent used to is going to happen due to what we are doing. It could potentially be very, very bad due to weather changes, crop yields, and raw temperatures.
I don't see how anyone could honestly think humans just couldn't possibly have a major impact on the planet. There are billions and billions of us and we just keep growing. Its like we all just want to stick our heads in the sand over important issues because of politics or what letter is next to someone's name. We could easily kill nearly every human and animal on the planet right now if we chose to do so. We could easily make gigantic swaths of this planet entirely uninhabitable for years and years simply by dropping a man made bomb. Humans wield ultimate power in context of this planet we live on and at the same time we are apparently unable or unwilling to do simple things to help our species for stupid reasons.

Look at that list. If those at the bottom continue with what they are doing, what we do in the United States makes no dent in “world” CO2 levels.
Look, I want clean water and air, but am not willing to wreck our economy to do it when the biggest increases of CO2 output don’t have to control what they output.....

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/22/clima...-poll.html
Some 73 percent of Americans polled late last year said that global warming was happening, the report found, a jump of 10 percentage points from 2015 and three points since last March.
The rise in the number of Americans who say global warming is personally important to them was even sharper, jumping nine percentage points since March to 72 percent, another record over the past decade.
It's too bad the 28 percenters are so vocal here. But thankfully I can take comfort in the fact that I am part of a vast majority of Americans and that the 10 posters who spend all day and all night repeating the same sentences and memes aren't attracting any new followers.
Do I believe the Earth will end in 12 years? No. Do I feel that we'll pass the point of no return before the end of my lifetime? Sadly, yes.

RE: Ocasio-Cortez says Climate Change will end the Earth in 12 years.
Global warming is important to me.
But I will only act once those that tell me that global warming is an emergency act like global warming is an emergency.
As others as said, one person can't make a difference so I will continue to live my life like those that claim global warming is an emergency - as I want to, regardless of how that is or is not impactful to the Earth.
Get your shite in order, then come a knocking. Not the other way around.

I'm surprised only 73% think it's real. Most so-called deniers think it's real. What they doubt varies from the causes to the affects. The climate changes. We affect it. So do volcanoes. If we warm it up enough, maybe we'll survive the next ice age.

All of that and hacking down the Rain Forrest and generally "paving over paradise to put up a parking lot" as Joni Mitchell once noted. Cut out the plants that efficiently convert C02 to Oxygen and of course Carbon dioxide rises.

Yes, climate is changing. Climate is always changing. The only thing that never changes is the need for man to feel significant and in control of his own destiny. Unfortunately, some things are much larger than man and well beyond his control. Climate is one of those things.
Do you think that when the little ice age was starting to trend the greatest minds of the day sat around saying if we don't start increasing our Co2 output we are all going to freeze to death. We will all be dead in 12 years?

Oh, and if you want to get co2 admissions back to 1900 levels all you have to do is kill about 6 billion people. If you aren't willing to do that, then it's not going to happen. Well, that or everyone can cut their carbon footprint by 80% immediately. Good luck with that.

The Democratic Socialist said the fight against climate change is war and that it’s “our World War II.”
Well, if all the world is going to see in the next 12 years are more Ocasio-Cortez level leadership then having it end might be a good thing. But if it doesn't she really needs to just go away and take a few more idiots in the House with her.
She is a blithering moron.

Thank the Lord Above that didn't happen.

Errr, wut?
Global warming may well be happening. Warming and COOOLDASSHITTESTNESS been happening too. As recent as 10-15k years ago. You ever seen the Grand Canyon?
So, yea. What to do? Kill peoples pursuits and dreams in real time, in the false hunt for trying to prevent the natural cycles of life and nature on this marble?
Or let this brief, very temporary experiment go on for as long as humanely possible for those we care about?
Like kids, hopefully grandkids and etc.
Pro-tip: We'll be here for a wink and a cup of coffee when it's all said and done. Shouldn't we just enjoy it?
Wish all sides would just knock it off.
