Not really understanding the need to schedule a DII team at this point...unless we did it since we scheduled two FBS teams.

I have a much bigger problem with the two FBS teams.

RE: 2019 Schedule Out
They better plan on winning the conference outright next season if they want to go to the playoffs again. 2 FBS losses and a D2 win won't get it done.

RE: 2019 Schedule Out
So annoyed they scheduled Vanderbilt on Thanksgiving weekend. Nobody wants to sit in that dump when the weather is nice let alone when it'll be cold, an 11 A.M. local kickoff. Fans get to freeze and deal with the smell with the sewage smell on that side of the stadium with literally zero atmosphere with them sitting on about three wins and Derek Mason fired.

Thanksgiving is the 28th this year so this is the Saturday before Thanksgiving weekend. Vandy plays the small to medium size Orange on Thanksgiving Saturday.

It’s nothing more than a money game anyway.

Even worse because that's traditionally the day of the LogoBrands Warehouse Sale in Franklin. people will be more interested in going to that.

RE: 2019 Schedule Out
You guys are playing a D2 so you can have a 12th game and 6th home games. Count yourselves lucky that your team wants 6 home games. Wofford refuses to ever play a 12th game so we only freaking get 5 home games. I wish we scheduled someone, anyone, just for a sixth home game! I wouldn’t care if it was College of Faith.

Just like in basketball, I would rather not have an extra home game than to play a meaningless game.

I am glad we are playing the extra game. Since we are scheduling two sure losses we are going to need an easy win. Plus it is a chance to possibly let more back up players see action.

I’m addicted to winning myself, by as wide a margin as possible.

RE: 2019 Schedule Out
I think when looking at the schedule this season you really can't look at it from just the one year perspective. I believe to keep recruiting on the uptick and keep the program moving forward you have to schedule a couple FBS games each season if possible. I also believe that with the way recruiting is improving these types of teams are beatable in the future. Upsets yes but I believe you have to challenge yourself in that direction. I can assure you playing at Vandy, APSU, NC etc. is extremely attractive to recruits. As for the D2 game. While you hope for a more competitive D2 school i believe that fits in order to get that potential bad taste from a most likely first loss out of your mouth. Also allows to get some early game time for some backups to help shake things out a bit. Hopefully if they keep the D2 in there they'll upgrade in the future.
Looking forward to a big 2019!! Can't wait to see the names come in tomorrow.
Go Bucs!!

RE: 2019 Schedule Out
Excited to see game times added today. Already planning game days in my head. Would liked to have seen a couple less 7:30 starts, but happy with it. Should help those concerned with the heat.

So far, Appalachian State and Austin Peay will be broadcast by ESPN+.

That Furman/Wofford week stretch is going to be crucial.

RE: 2019 Schedule Out
The only reason they have 2 FBS games is because they can schedule 12 games this year. It all about getting a good payday.

RE: 2019 Schedule Out
I continue to love the night games early in the year, it represents the administration taking fan input into account and is one of the smartest things that they could do.

What I am looking for this year is at least one game that the fans stick around until the end to see a good finish. I don't think we have had that since ETSU brought football back. These start times give the best chance of that happening.

RE: 2019 Schedule Out
I like the night games, however, with the length of the games, I think that 7 is better than 730...but thats just me. An 1100 game end is past my bed time! Plus we live close enough to walk to the games and the fireworks (if they have them this year) don't need to be going off that late. Now...get off my lawn! 05-stirthepot
