Mulkey has improved each game. What worked against her earlier isn't now.

Mulkey had a great night, finishing with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 blocks!

Rice moves to 6-0 in conference.

The first one of "I don't think they are really that good" proved wrong. Well done ladies.

Mulkey was a terror, but Eric had yet another double-double (14 poinys, 10 boards, 3 assists), and Nicole came to life in the 4Q. Strange night with only 8 FTs attempted. Usually, Erica has at least that many by herself.

Great road win. Now, let's go and topple UAB on Saturday!

I watched most of the 2nd half, Rice looked very good. Too bad Mulkey was injured for the tough non-conference games.

OUCH.

Good win by both the women and men. Coach Pera has surprised me. He has done well. The girls are going to be hard to beat in Conf USA.

Neat note (that my brother dug up)...not only is the 6-0 start the best in Rice women's history (and it may be better than anything a Rice men's team has done too BTW), but all 6 wins in conference play have been by double digits.

There are only 6 teams in the country in women's hoops who can currently make that claim - the top 3 teams in Notre Dame, Baylor and UConn, and then also #10 Marquette and Lamar. I think a couple other teams can equal that stat but are stuck at 5-0 starts for now.

Western Kentucky lost to USM tonight too (who only had 1 win in conference play I think but they are better than your average 1-win team). So that makes us the lone unbeaten team in CUSA.

Rice's Massey rating is all the way up to 62 after last night. UAB is 64 so Saturday is another chance to move up in the ratings.

Not to mention that espnW mid major top ten. (UAB-7, Rice-10). Those are only updated biweekly, however.

Even more importantly (and we know this is a stretch given that both teams are in the 60s)... but Saturday’s winner could, let’s say, run the table to the conference tourney final and maybe have an outside shot at an at-large bid. Very unlikely though.

UAB and MTSU play each other twice, so either both teams get a loss, or one of them gets two. Also, WKU and MTSU play each other twice. And, WKU and UAB will play each other once. So we probably have an "easier" schedule down the strech, but then not much help RPI wise.
