The NFL Sucks...
Mostly because of their ridiculous rules and officiating. That is all.

2 overtime championship games. I thought it was an exciting day of football.

RE: The NFL Sucks...
Officiating does take away from the games. And I vehemently hate the OT rules. I feel that the Chiefs should've had a chance to go on offense. Any games that is essentially being decided by a coin-flip is absurd to me, and hell, I'd feel the same way if the Chiefs won the toss and scored a TD. A game with a SB bid on the line should not be decided this way. I don't think the NFL sucks, but there's some obvious flaws that can be corrected.

I'm one of the rare people that prefers the NFL overtime rules. To me CFB overtime is basically a different game. No need for clock management, condensed field, it takes forever, and pads stats.

I think CFB could be adjusted as well; IE moving the ball back to the 40, as opposed to the 25, and going for 2 starting the first OT.

They were the ones who blew a 2 touchdown lead. One call doesn’t lose a game.

I'd prefer to see each team get the ball at the 50. No guaranteed FG attempt. Defense can win the game with a stop on the first series of downs provided their offense can score and it puts all phases of the game back into play except kickoffs.

I'd bet many more games would end in 1 OT if they started at the 50.

In pro ball 1 teams kicks and the other starts their drive. I think if the first scores there should at least be another kickoff and drive by the opposition. The ability to go for 2 is there so whether another kickoff is needed or not after the first two possessions will depend on coaching decisions.

College overtime needs three changes

1 The team going second in overtime period cannot attempt a field goal unless the team going first attempted one.
2 If both teams score in a period the next period will start five yards further from the end zone than the previous period
3 remove the required 2 point conversion rule

Well it sort of did today

Was it pass interference?
Yes
Do the Saints win if it is called?
Yes

For those fans that are tired of the NFL games being swayed by refs, this is the cherry on the cake

The NFL is a joke

Overtime rules are irrelevant when the refs give Tom Brady free flags in every playoff game

The credibility of these "professional" games has degraded more and more each year as the refs pretty much dictate outcomes. The Saints game is the most blantant non-call I've ever seen. Meanwhile Tom Brady gets a free flag if a DL breathes on him

It is laughable...and a waste of time for anyone watching. Either Brady and the city of Boston gets their 1000th championship, or the new LA market team gets a trophy

NFL should become the NFE...National Football Entertainment

RE: The NFL Sucks...
Given the stakes and situation of the game and the apparent obviousness of the call, people are calling it the worst non-call in NFL history.

Hard to argue. Saints got objectively screwed out of a Super Bowl.

This wasn’t some borderline call like PI Miami/Ohio St.

Not only professional games. I'm not defending the NFL, which sucks in many ways, but consider this...

-- Both NFL conference championship games were won by the lower-seeded team.

-- Compare that to college football, in which the favorite has won every conference championship game in the five years of the CFP. Either that's suspicious, or you have to believe college football is just blessed with multitudes of happy and convenient coincidences that favor big-name teams who generate higher TV ratings.

^ This.

I'm not watching the superbowl. Neither team really earned their spot. And, the refs will pick the winner anyway. The league has become a joke, and it is a shell of what it used to be.

I posted on another site.. if the game ends up NE-LA (which it has),

I'm going to say it'll get it's "average' numbers, but outside of those two markets (or diehards of either team), there isn't going to be anybody who has any interest in this game now considering how bad the officiating was in both Championship games.

If the Rams had won without the help of that call, I'd have still had interest.
If the Patriots had won without the help of certain calls, I"d still have had interest.

My interest right now is 0.... which means I'm not watching this year.

Everyone keeps talking about the PI.... I was more upset about the helmet to helmet hit of the play... why wasn't that flagged?

The Saints non-call was the cherry on the cake...there was no if, ands or buts about that call. Besides that game, the Patriots get free flags in every game they play. There were some questionable calls against Dallas vs. the Rams as well.

If you can't depend on the validity of the product, why watch the games?

It was a crap non call, Goodell is talking about making PI a challenge play.

Having said that, the Saints still had chances to win, but they totally lost their poise. Instead of worrying about the game, Peyton was whining the whole time. Also. Brees threw a pick.
