RE: Official’s Calls
So back to terrible officiating in the NFL.
Gene Steratore and his brother Tony (also a NFL official) were customers of mine through the small business they own. Super guys, incredibly funny stories, and very open about the state of officiating in the league.
I personally like the concept of putting an 8th official in the booth who has access to replay and can make a quick penalty call or reversal. Obviously the PI call would have been made in the Saints game. And hopefully the Brady roughing the passer call would have been reversed during the KC game. Penalties often have greater impact in the final score than whether a receiver makes a 4 yard catch. Browns and the Steelers seasons would have been dramatically different with an 8th official in the booth.
IF they don't review all the plays, then I would prefer they review none. And go back to the football I watched as a kid. As my Dad would tell me, "Breaks have a way of evening out."

Funny how you know everything. Even though I was pulling for the Pats, these people hated Brady. I did not ask them why because I did not care. Too each their own. You should try that, too.

RE: Official’s Calls
I'm not a fan of Brady or the Patriots, however he is a great QB and he is one of the most clutch QB ever. He has played in an era where QB's are really protected. He would not have lasted this long playing in other eras when defensive players could really hit QB's. I will be interested to see if the Refs let the Patriots Offensive Line hold Suh and Donald, plus will they get roughing the passer penalties if and when they hit Brady.

It would seem a replay booth official could overturn egregious errors like the PI non call and obvious jumps by linemen that are not called. Time does not allow such for anything but egregious errors.

I guess it is jealousy.
Are there Brady haters? Most seem to believe he's the best QB in NFL history. A few believe he's in that top tier of best QBs along with a couple other guys and that combined with playing for the best coach, best run franchise and some good luck has enabled the greatest run in modern sports from any team. I'm not sure I've ever actually ran into a Brady "hater".
Yes, however the problem is with your definition of hater. A hater is not just someone who attempts to diminish the accomplishments of an athlete.
I can recognize how historically great at basketball LeBron James is and still never want to see him win a game.
It is very, very easy to have a visceral dislike, or a hatred if you will, of an athlete while still recognizing their place in the pantheon of the game.

I think my dislike is more for Belichick. I don't know why, it's just every time he's on the screen I get annoyed. I don't think it's their success, although I can certainly understand being tired of the pats winning. I think he's just got this "I'm a smarmy, D-bag, who intentionally runs over people's cats when I drive" look about him.

RE: Official’s Calls
To me there is just too much time being spent at the monitor for reviews in college basketball. It is really becoming too much of a distraction and ruining the flow of games. Tennessee just got saved by a very questionable hook and hold call at end of regulation that gave them a four point play and they went on to win in overtime.

The Yankees meet your definition for me. How can you not be in awe of the Yankee greats starting with Babe Ruth through Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera? Their history is rich both in tradition and in payroll LOL! Seriously, there's just something about them I disdain from everything to their pinstripes, 27 world series titles, 40 pennants, television market advantage, free agents, payroll, stadium prices, etc., etc.

RE: Official’s Calls
Yeah the reviews for college basketball have gotten ridiculous. Way too many of them and often if your team is on TV and plays when another game is before it, there is a good chance you will miss a good chunk of the game. The Tenn/Vandy game was like 2:45 for a single OT game. I flipped it off after so honestly don't know if another game was on after it, but it probably would have been at halftime. Ridiculous.
Honestly in the NFL, I think they should let coaches challenge potential PI calls and 15 yard personal fouls (I think they say the penalty must be 15 yards to be challengable). Those are game changers and you see it both ways (Missed and bad call). How often have you seen a 50 yard PI call with minimal contact or an obvious one not called.
I know they are a judgment calls and I think it has to obviously be a blatant miss to overturn it. Heck they called a phantom roughing the QB against the Chiefs when the backside ref thought Brady got hit in the head and it was a whiff. That was another potential game changer.
I don't think I would up the number of challenges for coaches (Though I would be fine with adding challenges if exhausted but all were successful. If you lose any challenge, then yo uare done getting challenges added. Right now if you get the first two right, you get a 3rd. I would say if you use your 3rd and all 3 you won, you get another one and so on). So as not to add time to the game. I also think the booth can't initiate a review in the final 2:00 either for penalties. A coach must have a TO and a challenge remaining to challenge a potential penalty being overturned or called.

You need to get out more. Half the people I watched the game with do not like Brady.
I concede defeat. I have found a Tom Brady hater.
