Quote:Nazareth senior Michael Love received some unexpected guests for Friday’s home basketball game against Chicago Hope Academy.
Right before tip-off, NIU football coach Thomas Hammock walked into the building with four of his assistant coaches.
Quote:“I saw Coach Hammock and four guys, all pretty tall and big guys standing courtside, and I noticed them right away,” Love said. “Coach Hammock introduced himself. It was the first time I met him during warmups.
“My parents happened to just walk in at that time, so it was perfect timing. That meant a lot to me that he went to my game.”
According to the article, Hammock already had at least four assistant coaches in town last Friday. I know four coaches have been announced but were all four in town last Friday or were one or two of the coaches at the game some unknown/undisclosed coaches?
Protocol. The university has an order in which they hire people. He can’t make announcements until they university officially hires them.

Yup, had a class last semester that was cancelled for the first 2 weeks because they had the professor already on campus but could step foot into the classroom until his paperwork cleared.

FYI, you still have this wrong. Zach Cahill is likely your new primary S&C coach. He held the assistant position before he left for NDSU a couple years back. I doubt he would return to the same job. And Jim Kramer is most definitely not leaving NDSU for NIU. He just turned down Kansas State and was given a promotion and raise.

Thanks for the info. I also like the NDSU website that tells where the coaches go.

Kansas: Jay Niemann, who spent the last three seasons as the defensive coordinator at Rutgers, has joined the staff as a defensive analyst

RE: Staff - Make Your Picks
ok..i'm going to bury this question in this thread to avoid controversy. I like everything Coach H is saying and doing, even my wife likes him ("he's fun!").
But,
Is anyone else a tad alarmed by how big he is? I know ex players put on weight and all, and he's relatively young at 37, but he's carrying alot of excess weight on him. IMHO, he could lose 10s of pounds and still be a very big guy. But oh man, with the stress of starting a new high profile job, and moving your family across the country, this is not the best time to start a diet.
Do head coaches have some type of health monitoring in their contracts? any one know? Not punitive measure, but things like 'executive physicals' and other encouraging practices to promote health. My company offers free 'executive physicals' to guys making half of what Coach H makes.

I’m a little more worried about DogFan’s weight personally.

I wonder about Hammock as well. Wouldn't mind seeing him turn into a lean, mean recruiting machine. Weight-wise, right now he's resembling Toledo Tom.

I know man, my post is way weird. I had to ask, I needed to know if it was just me noticing that.
And any comparison to Toledo Tom should be stricken from the board!

I think one issue is that the post came very close to advertising.

My guess is that we'll hear about the rest of his staff shortly. There always seems to be quite a bit of movement after signing day. Most assistants don't like to leave their current job right before signing day for obvious reasons.

Although very unlikely, maybe Craig Kuligowski could be the DC as he was let go by Alabama. It was rumored he interviewed for the HC position, so who knows if he would want to take a lesser position.
