I would much rather play Vanderbilt than Arkansas. The only reason the Arkansas game was fun was because they recruited Memphis players and Nolan was the Coach. It is a tough drive for away games. Nashville and Memphis will always hate each other regardless of the players or coaches. Plus it is an easy drive.

Vanderbilt is Vanderbilt.

That's cool.

According to the CA article, Northeastern will actually pay Memphis $45k at the completion of the contract.

Fair enough, I think their arena is historic or something. May be fun.

Per Wikipedia, Matthews Arena in Boston is the oldest multi-purpose athletic building still in use in the world...built in 1910.

That is really cool.

Bring back Arkansas. Forget about the football game. Regional rivalries are fun.

I'd rather give Arky State a 2-for-1 so Tiger fans can take over the Convo center.

Yes, but Arkansas isn't Arkansas. At least not the Arkansas we all remember. Playing a top ten UT and/or a borderline top 25 Ole Miss is way better than playing a sub 70 Arkansas team. Of course you could also say the same thing about football. Would playing a 2-10 Arkansas team really help our S.O.S?

Nowhere am I advocating for playing Arky. If we do, whatever.

I'm just noting that Memphis vs. Vandy isn't a "Memphis vs. Nashville" rivalry thing.

Yeah. Nashville is a UTk town if anything. Very few Vandy fans who aren't alumni.

Nashville is slowing turning into a professional sports town either for the home team or the team of their former location.

I agree - I just couldn't resist the chance to call out the hogs a little. They seem like a quiet bunch these days.

Arkansas is still relevent, should've won that Memphis regional 2 years ago if not for Luke Maye's heroics down the stretch for eventual champs UNC.

45K. I'd do a lot in Boston for two hours and 45K.

They won't ever recruit at a high level, and while there system is effective it isn't stable for the long term. You will burn out players real quick with that heavy press nonsense, which is why they have a lot of transfers.

They will never be a consistent program under there current coach. Maybe a top 5 SEC finish every four years, but average middle of the pack program in the SEC.

Fine for a home in home if we want. But they aren't anything special.

45K basically covers the trip.

So a free recruiting trip is what it is.
