For the record, I'm not a fan of this move 03-puke

Oh, REALLY JD? WOW, I've never heard you say that before! I can't believe it!

Seriously, give it a rest. You sound like a junior high kid throwing a tantrum. Why don't you go get some outrage on something that may be productive, like maybe for UCSB not having baseball lights after HOW MANY years in existence?

None of this (realignment/membership) is about you or me.

My "temper tantrum" aside RB, what's your take on the article? CSUB would be at worst, the middle of the pack this year in the BW. Heck, your NET rating is higher than San Diego State.

I think its a fair assessment. Being a baseball booster/follower foremost, I AM concerned about our facilities. We have a very good field surface decent lighting (although not NCAA regional certified), but the amenities are lacking for both players and fans. With the move, I expect many more opposing school fans, due to proximity of course. So, I think it would be great if that warranted a move back to the Robobank for MBB, sooner or later.

The other thing is Bakersfield is a pretty decent-sized place. I frequently see cars with license frames telling me "Alumni of UC Davis, SLO, (due to Ag), UCSB, etc." The move should no doubt bring a FEW more of those people out. Not tons, but likely some. Lots of CSUN grads here too (several at my school).

The NET rating, eh. Our team this year (and recent years as well) is Jekyll and Hyde. We don't really know what we'll get, game to game. Plus, SDSU isn't nearly as good this year as in previous from what I understand, FWIW.

Look...I get it. I don't want to start off in a pissing match with you. I read you on the BW boards and you have a lot of knowledge to offer, I appreciate it and respect it. We have ALL known for YEARS, the prevailing fan opinions of the BW. However, anyone who has followed conferences knew sooner or later, the 'Runners would end up in the BW. Nobody knew it would happen when it did though. But, it is what it is. Here's to this (including UCSD) being a benefit to ALL schools in the conference, both to their athletic AND their respective academic missions.

One thing I've noticed regarding baseball is that UCSB and Bakersfield have been playing single game H&H in recent years. With the Runners and UCSD joining in 2020, does that change into three game series? I would be disappointed if the conference decides on 30 league games as that will eat into ooc play and limit at-large opportunities for everyone. A true round robin could be disasterous for volleyball as well (20 BW contests).

One sport which could benefit from the expansion is men's soccer. With 10 league members you only face the RPI dregs once, whereas currently you could face a Sac State or Cal Poly twice each.

Yah, could be interesting to see what changes the conference may make in various sports due to the numbers.
IIRC, we have had UCSB on the baseball schedule every year since our baseball inception.

Women's soccer, men's and women's tennis will be 11 members, 10 league games. That's pretty much the only locks everyone can agree on.

Nothing has been said about basketball or volleyball. While a 20 game round robin is simple enough and provides everyone with at least 10 home contests, it also increases Hawaii's travel expenses - they're still paying travel subs for all current members and they have to fly out to Bakersfield and San Diego. That's not fair to Hawaii. It's one reason why I'd like the BW to find a 12th member, preferably from a neighboring state (GCU? Portland State?) so we could split into divisions and a 16 game league schedule. Until that day comes...

Softball will have 10 members - UCI does not sponsor it. I expect we'll all have three game series with each other.

Men's soccer TBD, depending on whether or not Sac State remains as an affiliate.
