MAC Commissioner does not support CFB playoff expansion
http://www.espn.com/college-football/sto...-in-future

Quote:ESPN.com polled all 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick, and the only two who were willing to favor some form of expansion at this point are Mike Aresco of the American Athletic Conference and Sun Belt commissioner Karl Benson, who will retire following the expiration of his contract in June.

Other interesting tidbits:

Quote:People forget that pot pre-CFP for the Group of 5...now $90 million.

Quote:According to CFP executive director Bill Hancock, each Power 5 conference will receive an estimated $62 million base payout from the CFP, including $300,000 for each team that meets the NCAA's APR for participation in a postseason football game.

So the G5 conferences have to share $90 million, while each P5 conference gets at least $62 million. Seems like the rich only get richer and the G5 should just be happy we get anything at all.

I support Communism for College Football. All the money for D1 programs should be put in then each one of the 122 teams gets their even share.

Seems like "expand the playoff" should be the default position for every G5 commissioner, AD, and coach at minimum. Or have an actual, sanctioned tournament like the other levels.

RE: MAC Commissioner does not support CFB playoff expansion
This thread is partial slander as the MAC commissioner only said undecided, not outright no. The reason being he wants to know how the G5 fits into an expanded playoff. The last thing you want is to green light expansion and then get left without a seat. I would assume the proposal the MWC commissioner puts out in the article, expand to 6-8 with an automatic G5 qualifier, is something the MAC would support.

And if not, then he should be relieved of his position.

Yep...and want to see how the money breaks down as well. A perfectly reasonable response to the question, but let's pull it out of context and throw fits!

The contract would mean big big revenue! Every team in the MAC would get coupons for free subway sandwiches, regardless of their performance.

RE: MAC Commissioner does not support CFB playoff expansion
Has anyone polled the players about what they think?

Are these student athletes willing to play more games as free trained seals/organ grinders monkeys for Americans leading lives of quiet desperation and greedy corporations?

"But...but...we HAVE to have a playoff! And we HAVE to have more teams in it to make it FAIR and LEGITIMATE!"

It's a game played by teenagers and 20-somethings kids taking psych and algebra. Get serious.

The good news is, if the "grownups" expand the CFP to 8 games, the players will finally organize and demand compensation.

I think your concerns are legit, but no one makes you play Division One football.

Do 1-AA and lower level divisions complain about their playoff system?

Other college sports teams play way more regular season and postseason games.

I think 1-A football players could handle it.

What an idiot. If UFC has shown one thing is that no G5 will ever get into the 4 team playoff.
