Same thing that happened to actually playing on ESPN or MASN or NBCSports or any actual television probably. We used to have at least 2 or 3 games on an ESPN outlet every year, and another 7-8+ on actual broadcast television. Now.. practically zip. Thank goodness for streaming or it would be impossible to follow the Monarchs from 4 hours away.

While I agree with you, I have to say that watching all of our games (FB and BB) is a million times easier now than it was just 10 years ago. I also only do streaming now so watching on espn+ isn't any different for me than watching ESPN via PS VUE.

Im surprised by the number of games on ESPN+. Its very rare these days that I cannot find the game somewhere, including football; which I would miss almost every road game.

They are a great event. Kids get to go places most have probably never been. Gives fans a reason to take a vacation, and you play teams you may not typically play. I don't see the problem.

Driving to Disney World, Charleston, or Myrtle Beach for a tournament is much easier and economically feasible for a fan base than flying to an island for a tournament. It's the Bahamas Bowl all over again.

My primary judgement on whether a tourney is a good idea or not is not whether it is economically feasible for the fan base.

I feel like playing somewhere on the mainland every other season isn't that much to ask. Or at least play somewhere that gets on ESPN since that's our only real chance.

Basketball MTE destinations under Jones:
Cancun (CBS Sports Net)
Virgin Islands (CBS Sports Net)
Mohegan Sun (ESPN family)
Atlantis (our games were on AXS)
Charleston (ESPN family)
Virgin Islands (FloSports)
Cayman Islands (last 2 years on Stadium FB)

I like to use these tournaments as a vacation but a flight (out of Newark) and hotel in the Caymans is $3k for 4 nights. Doing the same thing for Charleston was under $1k.

T, get the trip insurance. I spent an interesting vacation at a friends house in Cayman Brac as Cat 4 Hurricane Paloma ripped through on Nov 8, 2008. Love the Cayman's, but a bit skittish during that time of year.

I hear Myrtle Beach will be the next one (2020). Hope that holds true. If we can just get the idiots at CUSA to not schedule a home FB game the same weekend! We could have a huge amount of fans in those Myrtle Beach seats!

Good suggestion. I didn't even consider the date landing square in the worst part of hurricane season.

What are the dates for this event?

Nov. 25-27. Hurricane season is effectively over by then, though any very-late-season storms to affect land do tend to form in the northwest Caribbean where the Caymans are located -- most notably Paloma, though as pointed out that was early in the month. So you should be fine for this, hurricane-wise.

Yep, worse part of hurricane season is long over by late November.

At one point, Wisconsin was involved. Not sure where that stands.

Wisconsin is in the Legends Classic now, so still no 8th team for Cayman from what I can tell.
