That said, it seems it is an issue with the type of play going on in the WAC since the same officials are making calls within all conferences.

I actually think ProfScott proves where I was wrong. Most of the games I have watched are ACC, A10. Big East, Big 12, Summit, SEC, a little Pac 12. Most of those names are at the top of least calls. (Could be more talent fouls less, but UMKC's old conference Summit is somehow there) UMKC joined the conference, (they have to adjust) so when Dancing and most of you say its a foul that you should call in that situation, I am just not used to that and some other fouls with different levels of contact being called, but in the WAC it is the consistent call.
In my humble opinion, it probably does have something to do with talent. The better the talent the fewer the fouls. However, I think it has a bit more to do with the style of play in the WAC. CSUB leads the WAC in the aggressive "foul each time down the court" style of defense, but UTRGV, CSU and even UMKC have somewhat similar styles.

I hear you loud and clear. All caps and 14 exclamation points. If winning arguments goes to the one who yells loudest then you are the winner my friend.

Thank you Moral Police. Your opinion means a whole lot to me. 14 exclamations, huh? You must be a professor. I don’t suffer fools...

From what I saw on Twitter, an Aggie fan made the trip and was planing on going to the game but they didn’t have 2 seats available next to each other. Could be a sell out. If both teams come out swinging it should be a fun game to watch.

Just hope UVU has hired more than one security guard.

No kidding. I was at that fateful game and I cannot tell you how embarrassing it was to see the fans react the way they did. My wife does not want to go to any games with me anymore because of it.

The real question is who would win in a fight between Jans and Pope?

Jans in the third round by submission.

I thought the roos shot terribly in first half, but then looked at the stats.

GCU only made two more baskets than UMKC in first half but had a 20 point lead. How did that happen?

Alright RH, if we lose this one to CSU, you will have to give me some good excuses I can post as to why we lost other than "we just didn't get it done."

I'd also like to point out here that CSUB has a sizable history of LOSING games down the stretch ourselves by dumb fouls (with me cursing at the radio). This likely SHOULD have been one, but....the 'Roos just didn't capitalize and committed their own. It happens.

I don't know what a foul or travel is so no way of knowing its their fault.

I know that if the ft in the 1st half is 16-2. The team with 16 fts is probably going to win 99.9% of the time.

Naismith's point of basketball is to make more baskets than the other team. Hint the name Basketball.

I think the game has changed so far from this original point in the last 10-20 years.

I think UMKC fouls too much. 24-12 is a helluva disparity. I know that refs call some bull**** calls but you seem to make it out to be every third call is one.

SU starts 0-5 in WAC play. Losing to RGV at home is inexcusable. Hayford should be fired if this team doesn't finish top 4 of the WAC.

It’s almost a miracle shot now to finish top 4 in the WAC

I was at the UVU/NMSU game. Good game by the NMSU, but UVU couldn't make the shots and Free Throws we needed to get the job done. With our 3 losses against the top 3, and yeah I know it's early, but IDK how it's possible we finish top 2. Good job NMSU.

I really had hoped UMKC would keep it competitive against GCU. Hopefully UVU and UMKC won't play each other in the WAC tourney. Gotta get some value for the dollar right?!?

Actually, none of this really matters. Get everybody healthy and win three games on a neutral court in March. You guys have the talent to do it. That said, it might be advisable to beat Chicago State in Chicago on Thursday night.

RE: WAC basketball week 11
KenPom has a neat little stat called Free Throw Rate (FTR) that measures a team's ability to get to the FT line relative to how often they attempt to score. For all the whining about UMKC being jobbed because of some grand conspiracy theory to buoy CSUB and GCU, they go to the line with less frequency per FG than every other team in the WAC, except Chicago St. On the flip side of that stat, guess which defense has the second lowset rate of sending players to the line, per FG attempt? UMKC. Can we be done with this silly talk about any team receiving preferential treatment when it come to officiating now?

If you look at those stats its literally the order of the WAC outside CSUB.

It should be Coach Richardson first priority in improving. Every coach in WAC. Maybe Chicago ST should copy Bakersfield. Thats what I would do if I was them. FTR weakness is essentially giving other teams points to start the game. Can't have a free throw differential of 19 and win. You can't get outscored at the foul line by 17 and win many games.

"Dibler will host a training clinic for officials to review rules and game situations to help ensure consistency prior to the season."

Ok, questions for the forum:
Does the WAC still use a pool of refs that rotate Pac 12, WCC, MWC, etc? If so, anyone know/hear if those conference games are having foul issues like are being discussed here?

And, for WAC "old timers." (probably, mostly Aggie posters) Has the conference always been as now (perceived here on these boards), calling a lot of fouls as such is being discussed? Or, did this just appear around the time the conference rebuilt itself 4-5 years ago (WAC 2.0)? Just curious
