CSUB strategy is very simple. Foul every single time down the court and plan on them not calling 50 fouls on us in a game. NCAA should be fining teams for this style of play if they cared about player safety at all.

Refs NEVER determine a game. If your team had made an extra basket, an extra free throw, gotten an extra stop, prevented an offensive rebound, etc, you would have won. One play doesn’t determine an entire game. You controlled your own destiny and blew it.

We know from computer analytics this is not true. The luck factor in Kenpom is coaching random bounces and calls. Vegas bettors factor in refs very slightly especially in home advantage.

Refs may not win a game but they can affect the odds. If the computer predicted UMKC had a 30% chance of winning, bad referring can drop that to 26-27%.

This essential means refs are influencing 3 games out of 100. I don't expect them to be perfect though.

If our jerseys had Aggies or GCU on the front we would have won. Same roster just different jerseys

If your jerseys had Aggies or GCU on the front then you guys would have beat them by 10 points. Just saying.

That is my point.

So you think your team is talented enough to beat them by 10 points even with their style of play? They play the exact way against us but the difference is we have the horses to overcome their style, you guys don’t. Just because you won 2 games doesn’t mean you guys are king of the hill. Best case scenario for you guys is finishing 5th in the WAC, but I don’t even see that happening. We all have been talking about their style of play for years and no one likes it. Most WAC basketball fans can’t wait until they exit so we don’t have to play them no more.

RE: WAC basketball week 11
My point is the WAC would never make a questionable foul call on NMSU or GCU in that situation. UMKC would never get that call at home if Bakersfield fouled them. This is multiple years. Last years conference tournament game GCU shot 35 free throws against UMKC. Year before NMSU shot 33. Starting to make me think UMKC isn't welcomed in the WAC.

I never thought UMKC would finish high in WAC. Just want the players to decide the games.

The WAC doesn't call fouls. Officials do. I hate to deflate your convoluted conspiracy theory, but the lead official from last night's crew (Frank Harvey) has refereed in 28 games this season, most recently calling Pac12, Big Sky, Big West, and WCC conference match ups. Point being that the logical conclusion is he could care less about WAC standings. He's probably waaaaaaay more interested in preserving his professional integrity by getting the call right, which he did.

If there is concern about how many free throws opponents shoot against UMKC, perhaps the actual problem is how players are being coached (or not) to defend without fouling. Kareem Richardson being a bad coach is way more logical to me than some grand conspiracy through the officiating ranks to keep the Roos down.

I remember you mentioning those games last year. I feel your pain because you have passion for your team, and you have realistic expectations. You feel like an outsider looking in. You feel like how Aggie fans have felt for years being left out. That why most of our coaches preach that us against the world attitude. All you can do is just enjoy being in this conference because other options could be worse.

Plan and simple, it was a foul. I watched it several times and dude should have not even been close to Joiner. Roos blew that game. As far as fouls last year called vs. GCU and NMSU, they were also fouls. Both teams have big inside players and the Roos are small so they will commit fouls. IMO your coach lost that game more than anyone.

Can't wait to hear the imaginary slights you dream up for Saturday night's game.

Won't be watching until the Conference tournament. Nothing else matters now.

Does that mean maybe you'll stop posting the same old garbage excuses here too, when your team fails to measure up to what you THINK they SHOULD be?

CSUB 7th in luck in Kenpom. Top 5 in fouls per game in country. Good riddance. Their style of play is reason college basketball attendance is dwindling. Mugging may win games but it hurts overall enthusiasm. Won't miss them on way out. Games are hard to watch.
"Games are hard to watch."

Yes, even HARDER when you blow a lead and a game you had in the bag.

The Roos are last in free throw shooting in the WAC and last in rebounding in the WAC. The second leading scorer in the WAC is at the free throw line and misses both shots. That was the game. CBU beat NMSU because they went 14 for 14 from the free throw line in the final 1:17 of the game. GCU missed the front end of a one-and-one in OT, giving NMSU a chance to win the game on a half court shot. Free throw shooting is important. UMKC needs to spend more time working on that aspect of their game.

Oh, and as dancingNMSUaggie stated, don't foul on a three pointer at the buzzer. The guy might just make all three free throws.

Maybe West Coast basketball ain't for the roos, if you think that is a foul in that situation. Out east they would never have called that. I have said it before that is why WAC gets blown out in the tournament every year, our tournament is called way tighter than the NCAA tournament.

100% agree the roos have been in the conference for 5 years and need to adjust to WAC play and how the games are called.

That being said looking forward to the Free throw contest between GCU and UMKC tomorrow

Interesting Tweet from Eric Haslam here about the WAC leading all conferences in fouls/team over the last two seasons. Perhaps RoosHouse has a legitimate grip. I certainly would like to see fewer fouls called and I too hate to see a game end the way it did for UMKC on Thursday. That said, it seems it is an issue with the type of play going on in the WAC since the same officials are making calls within all conferences.

I actually think ProfScott proves where I was wrong. Most of the games I have watched are ACC, A10. Big East, Big 12, Summit, SEC, a little Pac 12. Most of those names are at the top of least calls. (Could be more talent fouls less, but UMKC's old conference Summit is somehow there) UMKC joined the conference, (they have to adjust) so when Dancing and most of you say its a foul that you should call in that situation, I am just not used to that and some other fouls with different levels of contact being called, but in the WAC it is the consistent call.

Dancing is 100% right. They watch the film, they should know whats a foul and not in the WAC and how to play defense without fouling especially in late game situations.

That's just poor coaching

From what I saw on Twitter, an Aggie fan made the trip and was planing on going to the game but they didn’t have 2 seats available next to each other. Could be a sell out. If both teams come out swinging it should be a fun game to watch.

I hear you loud and clear. All caps and 14 exclamation points. If winning arguments goes to the one who yells loudest then you are the winner my friend.

No kidding. I was at that fateful game and I cannot tell you how embarrassing it was to see the fans react the way they did. My wife does not want to go to any games with me anymore because of it.
