...why should our AD be in a hurry to sell away the stadium's naming right during our football program's low point?

Your pre-supposing this AD has a plan, timetable and renderings to show someone.

Yea I'd say the name on your field is the opposite of cool.

Wasnt even talking field although why his name hasnt been removed is baffling. But the fact that they have not been able to get a buyer for naming rights considering where we play is amazing. Major AD fail.

I dont think it's a big fail as you describe it. Ben mentioned before that that companies have approached us before, but we didnt like the offers on the table and decided to wait. We sold the naming right to the field for $10mil, so we can guess that our AD is waiting for $30-$40mil type of money to sell away the naming right to our stadium. Patience could be the right move here.

I'm guessing South Al was able to get a naming deal done quickly because they asked for a modest sum of money, which is totally fine because they were pretty frugal in their overall budget to construct their stadium.

We will take the ON campus stadium being constructed at South and are grateful to get it. It will beat the #&!! out of that leftover, cavernous POS venue GAST calls home. At least Hancock Whitney Stadium will have enough fans attend that it will take more to count than on your fingers. If truth be known, your average home game attendance can not possibly be over 12,000. South will, at least improve over the 17,000+ average reported in 2018 and the Jags have been playing in a dump for the last 10 years.

Panama I agree with you. Our attendance definitely should only be thought of as an embarrassment and a new stadium will only marginally help after the first couple of years: only a winning team will help.

OK Panama, I over-reacted, but GSUALUM17's criticism of South's stadium financing and cost was also a little over the top, IMO and struck a nerve. I publicly apologize to the GAST fans. Our attendance hasn't been that great by any means. Also, at least y'all have somewhere decent to play, here at Ladd, not so much.

Umm overreact much? South Al didnt overspend for a brand new stadium that looks pretty nice and has less internal pressure to recoup the cost with a pricey naming right. Being frugal while getting job done is a praise in my book, not criticism. You are losing your mind over nothing.
