Down 11 Buffalo had WMU right where they wanted them?
I understand your point. Buffalo playing down and WMU playing up and the 2 shall meet.
Listened to the 2nd half.
It sounded like Josh wasnt settling for 3's. At the 1:40 mark Robin called out a left handed Hook by Seth over Perkins. Under 3 min. Emillen holds his ground, doesnt foul and Carruthers missess from inside. Printy, shot fake and ducking in under the arc for a 2 ball make. Has all the markings of improvement.
The downside ... giving up O rebounds down the stretch. Missing the front end of a 1-1. Flowers in foul trouble. Jared struggling from long range. Several lobs into Seth are too long resulting in unforced turnovers in a couple possession game. No Martin.
Still early and has had challenging early conference schedule.
If,
- Seth can stay healthy and regularly play "Big" like tonight and vs Toledo.
- Flowers can draw defenses to him and others can step up off his feeds
- The bench can hold its own on both ends
- Can sharply decrease unforced turnovers then ...
WMU can continue to build off this and look to peak later in the year.
Ifs and buts ...
Could be said about anyone, I know.
But expectations are low and if you can hit on those 4 points you only have to win by 1 in the conference tournament to survive and advance.
WMU has been relatively consistent. Yes, losing but to date not blown out. In fact, WMU always in it but have 2-3 stretches where they are undone. But in each game you can point to something substantive in an area of improvement.
While others defy logic and the odds. That level of disfunction can't be put off on injuries, lacking front line depth, being overly young in the backcourt.
EMU puts up 95 the other day and then 49 tonight. In fact, excluding Duke 3 loses are 49 and under in points scored.
NIU looked to be elevating their game and lose to CMU in DeKalb.
BSU falls again but Persons comes up big.
Ohio beats BSU handily in Muncie but drops games to NIU and Kent in Athens. Kent holds on to beat WMU in Kent, beat Ohio in Oxford but loses by 34 against EMU and 22 against BGSU.
