RE: DC
I like Espo and I hope it works. But it’s important to note, that when Cubit was let go the best Espo could land was a D2 assistant job. His sole experience position coaching D1 is WMU. I think DC/OC really need perspective to succeed. Keep I mind Lester had the opportunity to bring Espo in as DC on Day 1, and chose not to. So what has changed to suggest promotion. I hope it works, but either way 2020 Tim Lester will look at this decision as the one that saved his tenure or was the missed opportunity to save it. As Bronco fans let’s hope it’s the first one.

My thoughts exactly. Coach Lester just signed up for a lot of grief from fans if we start poorly on Defense out of the gate. His decision, his call, his grief.

RE: DC
If I remember the BYU game correctly, in the first half BYU attempted to run it on us, and we were able to stuff them. Second half, BYU threw it quite a bit, and their QB was lit. Hard to game plan a QB who can't seemingly miss.

Agreed. Also played with a patchwork secondary this season. Crafty WR's burned them all year long. Can't loose Phillips, Beal, Tranquill playing on seven cylinders, two others lost to suspension and expect Lester to have a three/four deep MAC secondary? Just doesn't happen. I think he has some great young talent recruited last two seasons, takes time.

Not thrilled, but this is exactly what I expected. I love Lou. Great guy, good coach, good recruiter. I'm rooting for him.
Most importantly, it appears that the players are responding well to him and his message. They love the guy, which will hopefully translate to more consistent play.
