RE: Seating at The Steve or How We Will Buy Football Tickets Now
So I will still have to pay donation to tailgate, AND my seat cost goes up $100 per ticket. Thats a 50% increase over what I was paying just about. That is pretty steep.
Only opther option is to go to the East side, or try and grab West seats at the 10 yd line.
This fan does not like the new plan - will be much more expensive for the same experience. (And for what looks to be a bad team this coming season).
I was likely bringing on another 3 season tickets into my group this year as well, and I would imagine this will impact their decision.
Poor timing and not a welcome change from my perspective.

We're showing all the seats that cannot be sold as season tickets in the same color (white). Student seating will be in the Northeast corner of the stadium, some on the sidelines and some in the endzone.
Awesome! Thank you for the quick response.
I'm mulling over maybe trying to see if I can't get into section E202. Would keep me on the sidelines, keep me close to the band, and it could be fun to be in a faux student section.

It'll cost me an extra $100+ for the same seats.

To the ADs. I'll pay whatever it cost to have seats but give us a product worth watching and getting excited for on game days. College football is my therapy before every busy tax season.

Ok, I took Astronomy at ODU so I have done the Fall/Winter Solar horizon arc for 2019 to determine the level of Sun that season ticket holders in the East stands may encounter. There are two factors that I need to complete my equation. 1) Height of Foreman Field behind press box/50 yard line. 2) Height of Ballard stadium at same location.
Thanks in advance for those calculations.

Unless you want a tailgate spot because that is separate over and above the seat and ticket fee.

Comes out to a wash for me. I won't be needing a tailgate spot for the foreseeable future.
So, do they re-seat yearly going forward?

In other words if I buy two tickets in W217 am I paying $600 or $500?
Also isn't E202 a better seat than W218, but W218 is more expensive?
W217 - for 2 seats including your ticket is $600 ($300ea). plus if you tailgate there will be a separate donation for that benefit.

Only if you want different seats. If you want to keep your seats, as long as you pay your membership fee, you'll have them.

Is this accurate? Will there never be a reseating? If he stops making a Because of you donation his priority points will not go up very fast. Others who donate more will improve their points total faster. So does this mean a person who continues to donate Because of You theoretically can't improve their seating?
As time goes by others who contribute to Because of You (BOY) will have much higher priority points with little chance of improving their seas. Doesn't sound right on the surface. What am I missing?

That's what I've been told. But, of course, folks will have a chance to upgrade in the future. Turnover is going to happen no matter how great the stadium is or how much the team is winning. Some folks priorities change, some folks move, etc.
That turnover will be where the donations (as well as the perks of tailgating, beer garden and access to the BBR) come into account.

It is my understanding once you get your seats, as long as continue to pay the member ship fees each year you cannot be bumped.

So for football at least, my priority points for 2019, which determines my selection date and time, will determine where I sit from here on out. So if my BOY contributions decreases and my priority points don't keep up with others, I'm guaranteed my same seats?
Where is the incentive to give to BOY? If I don't care about tailgating or Big Blue room, where is the incentive to keep giving to BOY? This can't be the case. ODU will be cutting their own throat.

I would contact your ODAF rep to find out official info. Everyone on here except for Chandler will be guessing.
But here's my guess: If you want better seats, continue to donate to ODAF. Get higher priority points. After the season, there will be a seating process, and the people who have the most amount of points choose first. Since there will be at least some amount of turnover year-over-year, select the best seats you can. In fact, this might be a bit easier than in years past, where if you don't have a significant need to be exactly where you were the previous year, you could reseat every year until you find a spot you like the best.

I'm interested to see the donation levels for a tailgate spot/lot now with these new seat membership fees.

That would be super annoying to have to jockey every year for seats. I'm thinking that what drunkard suggested is the less drama filled and stressful on fans route. Sure, ODU might be cutting their throat on someone like me who doesn't tailgate (no point with the little kids). So for the next 4-6 years I'm going to get my 6 tickets and pay for the rights and that's about all I can afford right now. But sometime down the road I might can start going above and beyond again and getting more points from BOY donations if we want to move seats.

Both BOY and seat licenses go to the ODAF. My guess would be if BOY donations decline
too much, they will just raise the amount of the seat licenses.
