I was gonna say, he had to have called one there, even elementary kids know to call a TO there.

I never saw him make the hand signal but I think that was because he was protecting the ball

That rebound happened pretty much in front of us. I do believe he tried to signal once but was obviously afraid to let go of the ball. He was definitely yelling for the TO but I guess the refs did not hear it. You folks watching on TV would the shot have counted? It had to be close and since he missed it I know it doesn't matter but I am curious. Did they replay it to see if it would have been good?

Ted said it would be good if it goes but I don’t think so. They didn’t show a replay but it was close enough to review had it gone. I didn’t see a reaction from the refs.

Just paused the replay, it was out of his hands with .1 to go.

I know people are worried about Ahmad and BJ leaving, and as much as I love them as players, I believe we play better with a ton of ball movement. The ball seems to stall in Caver's hands right now. If he focuses on running the team and being a play-maker, instead of a scorer, this could turnaround quickly. As long as Justice can stay out of trouble, we are set at the point guard. When you add Oliver to this group for next year, I believe we will really be able to score. I know we are in the middle of the season but some things I would like to see the players work on in the offseason:

Justice- Stay out of trouble and work on vision.
Dajour- Gain weight and get stronger...if he does...could be ridiculous.
Godwin- Show the ability to get in the lane.
Wade- Jumpshot
Ezipke- Defense and low post moves.
X- For **** sake have the mentality that you can hit every shot.
Carver- Finishing off the bounce.

Totally agree. The offense ran better for the minutes that Justice was at point last night. The two times Caver had to go to the bench with foul trouble we went on a run, only to have the lead erased when Caver came back. It seems like Caver is really struggling to figure out his best role right now. But you nailed it with the ball movement. The ball stops every time Caver touches it. He also takes too long to get the ball up the court and get into the offense. We have a lot of late shot clock possessions. Why on earth would we walk the ball up the court then take our time starting to run our sets? The only worry I would have for next year is whether we have enough players who JJ is confident in to let them make plays. Caver and BJ have the green light. X and Godwin will have that next year. Do Kithcart and Oliver get that kind of leeway next year as well? If not, it doesn't matter what they are capable of.

I think a part of what the ball stops when caver gets ot is because everyone else stops. I kept watching the team when he gets the ball at the key. They run a little curl or whatever for bj and if that gets cut off everyone hangs out in the corners to crash the boards.

Thank you, I was really curious to know if it would have counted if he made it. 04-bow

I went to the ladies' game this past Saturday and they are moving the ball pretty darn well. Maybe we can get Nikki to come over and give a couple lessons on getting things a little less static.

I agree with most all you said, especially about the ball movement. Last night at halftime I was thinking about how much better our ball movement was with Kithcart the last 4 minutes of the half. Kithcart gets the ball upcourt and quickly passes the ball to set the offense in motion as opposed to dribbling for 10 seconds looking for an opening. I like Caver but I like him more playing alongside Kithcart.
The area I would disagree in your comments is the part about the green light. The way I see it they all have the green light now. Jones hardly flinches now when Green or especially Godwin ( when he was playing) jack up a long three. He gives Dickens a lot of freedom to shoot outside. I don't think any of our offensive woes are from players not having the green light but at the moment we just don't have a stellar offensive team.
So far, opposing conference coaches seem determined to not let BJ beat them. Teams are playing him much tighter on those curls off screens and they are hounding him. Caver is getting much tighter coverage as well and he is forcing some stuff. Some of our younger guys just need to keep getting better and hitting some shots. Kithcart, Dickens, Green, Wade, seem to be working hard on improving and you can throw Ezikpe in that mix too. Kalu is showing flashes of being really good, hopefully it happens this season.

RE: La Tech @ The Ted 1/17
I think we also have some players that have trouble creating offense from off the ball movemenT. BJ is certainly someone that is better with the ball in his hands as opposed to moving without the ball. He’s just not quick enough to create the separation so his game is making contested mid range shots.

We certainly have talent on the roster next year but they’re going to have to make significant improvements between now and then for us to be at the level we are this year we certainly have talent on the roster next year but they’re going to have to make significant improvements between now and then for us to be at the level we are this year. We are losing to all conference players

Make no mistake our team is significantly better when caver and BJ are on the court. We have a lack of shot making and shot creating when they are on the bench
