Solid win, UCF. ECU records another moral victory by beating the spread.

My god Gardner 35-20 he's gonna wake up with cold sweats from that "nightmare" matchup with Tacko.

Per usual, I was spot on in ranking ECU #5 in the Rank Em thread. Pirates are gonna be a problem.

Obasahan killed our momentum at the end, players have been benched for less.

That guy along with Hill and Spas suck. They are truly terrible.

This team is obviously getting better. They are still limited talent wise, but they play insanely hard and forget freshman of the year Gardner should seriously be in the running for 1st team all conference. Dooley has to prove he can land the upper level big in recruiting.

Better than Hinton, Johnson and who ever else.

I think he deserves to be in the best player in the conference conversation period at this point. I was skeptical that he would be able to get the kind of shots off he did in OOC in the AAC vs bigger players and rebound as well but after putting up 35 and 20 on UCF with one of the freaking biggest defensive presence ever in basketball kind of hard to doubt him at this point with all their size and quality of the teams he's doing it against. I think it's just who he is.

Once we get past the Houston game next Wednesday we have an 8 game stretch of very winnable games. Hopefully we can pick up 4-5 wins there.

Lol Tacko is garbage man. Never have been impressed with him and dont understand how anyone else could be? Has no offensive game, is not a good rebounder, obviously a liability on the FT line (which isn't unusual for ppl his size) and other than his length he isn't a great defender.

We are going to HAVE to have someone else step up. LeDay, Davis and Fleming were just terrible tonight offensively.

I’m not going that far yet.

Maybe one of the best bigs tho. I’d take him over any big UC, Houston, UCF, or temple has.

Houston fans love Fabian white but I’d take Gardner over white all day.

It’s just there are a lot of really talented guards in the league that are above him at the moment.

Have fun kicking us while we're down, we get Gardner any help and we're going to be in the upper half of the league next year imo.

You vastly undersale his defensive impact. He has led or nearly lead the entire NCAA in defensive rating his entire career. He's one of the best defensive players ever in college basketball. He also has a 25 PER so it's not like he sucking on offense. He's highly efficient on that end as well.

People don't really get it he has the biggest standing reach/wingspan in basketball history, as big as Manute Bol and he's muscular. There is a reason UCF is a tourny projected team and he's a huge part of it.

He already has the highest PER in the AAC by 3 points and didn't do anything to hurt it tonight with 35 and 20. At some point he will have to start getting his due not just among freshman. He's even a surprisingly good defensive player as well, damn good defensive rating to boot.

I think upper half is little much.

It took Houston even a coupled years to learn to consistently win.

First you get the talent to win, then you learn the effort it takes to win, then finally you learn the kind of execution it takes to win in conference and after that, then you win.

Without looking at rosters next year, if ECU finished 8th last year, I’d consider that progress and success.

Ecu is hugely improved. But I still think uc would win 9 out of 10 times if they played on a neutral court today.

They are learning what kind of effort it takes. Setting upper half of the league expectations is unrealistic.

Imo ECU is raising their floor but still have a hard cap on their ceiling.

RE: Sunday (1/13) AAC Basketball Games
Lets put this in perspective on Fall.

8 foot 4 inch wingspan (Bradley and Yao had 7-5 wingspans)

10'-5" standing reach (Yao had a 9'-8")

The dude is not just big by big standards he's is insanely long even compared to past giants. He has Manute lenght but weighs 300lbs or whatever he does this year.

If Gardner could still work around the rim with a guy like that in there I have no more doubts about him doing what he does vs about anyone anymore.
