Like you guys, we were exclusively a BB school, and us old timers still view it as top billing. And one more point. ODU fans like me have bitched for years that the bottom third of the league needed to make BB a higher priority. With UNT, UTSA, and the Florida twins having some success, we are getting just that.

Let’s hope for a strong performance against UTSA tomorrow!

So UAB and Empty Sue play home and home on Wed and Saturday? Am I reading the schedule right? Who is the schedule maker that came up with that? I guess the same one that gave us 3 games in a week.

Yeah, a few schools have this schedule with their travel partners. F_U played each other twice this week. Think I'd rather have that than 4 games in 7 days.

ODU tried and offered several options to Charlotte (including playing them in Dec.) and to say the least, they were not helpful at all.

The Cream is starting to rise to the top. I suspect WKU makes it in. Does anyone think a 5 loss team can make it into the top 5 ? I think one of the 3 loss teams will finish 1st. Saturday should see the log jam of 3 loss teams breakup a little.

I’ll go through henwhole schedule later, and while anyone in this league can beat anyone else, we certainly seem to be in the driver’s seat heading into the pods since three of our remaining four pre-pod games are against teams in the bottom four right now.

Rice is a good team and shouldn't be overlooked, and we have our own demons with MTSU

Most teams have 5 games left, and there are 13 teams within 5 games of first place for now. Kind of ridiculous. I'll take a small handful of the top teams and guess what they SHOULD do:

ODU: 3-1 against Rice, @UAB, @MTSU, Char

North TX: 3-2 against @Char, Marsh, WKU, @FAU, @FIU

UAB: 2-3 against MTSU, ODU, Char, @Marsh, @WKU (wow that's hard)

Marsh: 4-1 against UTSA, @UNT, @Rice, UAB, MTSU (really need to see how UTSA game goes)

UTSA: 4-1 against @Marsh, FIU, FAU, @USM, @LT

WKU: 5-0 against UTEP, @Rice, @UNT, MTSU, UAB (I'm assuming they figure it out and get hot like they should)

That would put us something like this:

Marsh 10-4
UTSA 10-4
ODU 10-4
WKU 10-4
UNT 9-5
UAB 8-6

I think Saturday's game between UTSA and Marshall is actually huge, assuming we take care of business against Rice.

I would hate to jinx us but Rice is bad.

Aside from their game against UTSA, all of their conference losses are by 1, 1, 3 points to @UTEP, @UNT, and UAB respectively. I think it would be a mistake to overlook them.

Yep, and combined with blowing the Marshall game and having UAB on the road, we will lose 2-3 of the potential tiebreakers. We are going to need to win out or get help to end up with a 1-seed.

They also lost by 30 to Witchita State and by 7 to Lamar. Lost by double digits to Nebraska Omaha.

In conference, they lost by 16 at home to North Texas and 16 on the road vs. UTSA.

Solid home wins vs. USM and LT though. 2 other wins were vs. Charlotte and MTSU. Other losses were UTSA, UTEP, and North Texas.

They really haven't had a tough schedule so far. Obviously, we have shown we can lose to bad teams, but we haven't lost to anyone as bad as Rice.

As we start looking at pod placement, if you aren't the 1 seed or maybe the 2 seed, I'm not so sure it isn't better to be the 5th seed. Here's why:

#1 gets #2 and #3 at home. Clear advantage there.
#2 gets #3 and #4 at home.

#3 has to go on the road to 1 and 2.
#4 has to go on the road to 2 and 3, but gets #1 at home.

#5 gets #1 and #2 at home, and goes on the road to #3 and #4.
