Lots of offers going out for 2020 and a focus on a Dline. Hopefully we can land some impact players at DT and DE in this cycle. Still think grad transfers would help instantly.

Agree to disagree. I see a lot of Nick Kargman in him. Throws a ton of deep balls, but I don't see him hitting the intermediate routes. High School team has lots of skill players. Footwork is jumpy. Furthermore, he has no other offers. We need a stud QB jn the 2020 class and I don't see it in Kim.

Yeah. Hope we beat William and Mary out for him. These must be our new recruiting grounds.

To be fair he is only a jr i think we were thornes only offer until his sr yr ended. He has great arm strength sees the field well and can escape pressure it looks like. Footwork is easy to teach cant teach arm strength

Kargman throws deep balls because he has the best WR in Jersey as a target. Most HS QBs with stud WRs do the same. Lester will sniff out talented QB projects in coming years. People forget every week during the season only 120 D1 QBs start the game. 2x-5x that number for other positions. Topline D1 QB development is an art. Many missed recruits in that position just from numbers. That is why we have so many top NFL QBs over the years from smaller programs. Takes good QB coaching, I think Lester will shine in this area as time goes on. He's only coached 25 games in D1, and half without his starting QB. Takes time.

QB is probably the one position in college football where scheme fit is the ultimate absolute on his level of play on a football field.

QB is also the position that determines if you win a championship or not to a great extent. Especially in the MAC. Great recruiting is important, but landing an all MAC QB is essential to our success.

You talking 2019? Yep. Toledo came in huge and that’s not a surprise... they have a coaching staff that is finally escaping the exhaust fumes of the PJ years here... dont be surprised to see that staff move on soon. Toledo is going to be tough again this year.

Commit #1

ATH/DB Jeremiah Piper - Southfield, MI, Southfield A&T HS - 5'10" 165 lbs.

https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2...per-236611
Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/profile/9927189/Jeremiah-Piper
Other offers: None

Piper plays QB in HS, so he's probably flying under the radar as an athlete/DB. You can see his quickness in his highlights though. He has been getting a lot of interest from MAC/B1G schools. I'm sort of confused, because I thought Anthony Romphf was Southfield's QB. But all of Piper's highlights are of him playing QB. I dunno...

Also, it's good to see the first commit in this class come from the Detroit area. The current staff has struggled in Metro Detroit. It's an area rich in football talent and I want to see the staff make more inroads there.

Hey, he's got an accurate deep ball! He probably needs a redshirt season in the weight room, but interesting that he plays QB, special teams, and is a return man. Looks tough. Maybe a safety down the road, assuming he's a smart guy playing QB? He looks like he has some room to fill out.

Rivals says Piper plays at Southfield HS (unhelpful, as that school was folded into A&T along with Lathrup)

24/7 says he's at A&T. 24/7 also lists him as a safety, but I haven't seen any video of him playing defense. Do Romphf and Piper share time at QB? I'm assuming Piper has camped as a DB during the offseason.
