He’s been at Bama one year. If you don’t want a guy who has coached at blue blood universities and has had unheralded success that understands how the most successful programs in the country operate, that’s your own issue. Also, who the heck wouldn’t want to leverage a relationship with ALABAMA. Are you kidding?

I just dont trust Frazier to be objective.

Does anyone else see the irony in this statement? Talk about your double standards!
Hey - all comments about each other aside here - wouldn't a relationship with a southern coach be a big advantage for us in recruiting from the south? I think we've done well in the past with southern recruits. Great skills.

And on another completely different topic, is there a rule of thumb as to how long this coach search will take? My guess is weeks, but does anyone have a more informed thought?

And will we loose recruits and players due to this? Can freshman recruits now change their mind and switch schools? I don't know what the rules are here - anyone?

I believe announcement could be soon, by the end of the week. I believe recruits can move if there’s a coaching change but not sure of all the rules.

In reading the National Letter of Intent rules, players have committed once they sign. Players commit to the school not the coach. Thefefore, they can’t leave without a release and transfer rules.

Do you have inside info or something. Seems like that would be really quick for a hire

Actually the announcement is scheduled for Wednesday at 3pm. It was supposed to be at noon but Coach Novak's flight is not expected to land at Rockford International airport until !:30 pm. The Silverette's
will be there along with Dog Fan who caught a Tuesday return flight from Honduras where he is resting after funding and orchestrating the march to our southern border. If you watch the "fake news" you saw him back and to the left of "The Donald". I already know who our next Head Football Coach will be but P.J. told me not to spill the beans.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have 16 recruits signed already but if they want to add to this class, they will need to sign a new coach pretty quick.

That’s a pretty flimsy assumption, but agree it’s always interesting to see what a new coach brings to the table. Hopefully new juice...

I beg to differ. I think the obsessed negativity on Carey and NIU turned fans away.
New Coach, is like hitting the reset button, so everyone is back for now.

New juice to the program!!

New activity was due to people conjuring up a way to keep Carey. New coach threads popped up days after the Temple thread.

Absolutely not! I live locally and every casual fan I know is more optimistic without Carey. I had nothing against him but for whatever reason he did zero to my enthusiasm. I am a die hard NIU fan but my preference has switched to basketball since he became coach....and I don’t know the reason why.

At the time, Charlie Sadler's Oklahoma blue blood resume seemed tremendous, but from day one, people in the athletic department knew NIU was just a stepping stone in his mind. He never understood the realities and limitations. He didn't understand what "the hard way" meant; recruiting involved far more than saying where you were from, there were all kinds of inequalities compared to OU. I'm not saying he wouldn't or couldn't be a good hire, but someone has to make certain he understands the challenges and the differences.

Sounds like Sadler was more aloof, a personality thing.

But my comment is really about NIU being a stepping stone. It is. At what we can offer a coach in terms of money and publicity, it will always be that. Look at the huge $ bump up Doeren had when we did crack into the big time. I do think we have to embrace (aka "live with") the fact the NIU position is a stepping stone. I just can't think of a personality type that's driven and talented enough to succeed, but would never want to leave for ALOT more $ when the chance came.

Just don't think his resume is that strong. If he hadn't played at NIU, I wonder if he'd even be a candidate? My personal preference is someone with head coaching experience.

Hammock is much more qualified than P.J. Fleck was when WMU hired him. So it wouldn’t be anything to be indignant about. I just think it’s imperative that we hire a coach who’s expertise is the QB and offense.

Hammock wouldn't be my choice, but I don't think lack of experience is an issue.

Northwestern did OK with an inexperienced coach. You just have to have a mentor type on the staff to help.

I don’t think that’s quick at all. The Carey news took about a week so that was plenty of time to start planning.

Pretty sure our roster is much, much stronger than what PJ had at WMU his first year.
