Exclamation Troy's assistant salary pool to be $2-mil

This is a big step up by Troy. I'm guessing this will be the highest assistant salary pool in the Sun Belt? Neal Brown's assistant salary pool was $1.4-million.

I assume Chip Lindsey is probably going to have a bigger salary than Brown also.

1.2M in 2014.
2.0M in 2018.

Not sure how that compares with the rest of the SBC.

Maybe the assistants received a pay raise at the same time Neal Brown was given a raise? But it looks like it was 1.4-million according to USA Today.

That's still a very significant increase. We should be able to hire some home run hitters with that kind of money.

Top five G5 assistant salaries?

Nope just random list incl UVA but Troy could be Top 5 G5 now, maybe even Top 3.

Looking at the listing, only five G5 schools (using 2018 numbers) have pools over 2m. They are Memphis, Cincinnati, UCF, Boise State, and Houston. We should be able to compete with these guys on the field. We would be #6 today, likely #7 or #8 after everyone gives their staff raises.

Houston just upped theirs to something like 4M and they are about the same as Georgia and Ohio St now. Their billionaire alum is having some fun.

IIRC UL is about that high, but no one else in the SBC is.

$1.5 mil for Eliott's staff. More than us

actually we are hiring 3 new assistants to replace those who got hired away this offseason. The salary pool could change...no idea yet.

Louisiana reported 2 million when coach Napier was hired. that was top 5 in the G5 at the time only 1 year ago. i think we actually went over the 2 million amount, but in that short time, several schools have increased their salary pools in the G5. so i dont know where things stand currently, but i would say Troy would be either tied for 1st or a close 2nd within the Sun Belt.

I think ours was reported at $1.4 million. Once again having 20 sports is hurting App compared to our conference mates.

Ours was 2nd to last in the league under Withers. Which is embarrassing given where we rank in overall budget. I don't know the exact amount, but the raise for the assistant pool is supposed to be "significant" under Spavital.

I wouldn’t say it’s hurt App at all so far.

I'm not a fan of dropping any sport. In fact, I think lacrosse and a rifle team should be added.

That would be the only one I'm interested in adding, but I believe we would do so at the detriment of one of our other men's programs. If we lose wrestling I don't know if I can ever forgive our school.

I'd would full-blown riot if Wrestling were to be cut. Thankfully, I don't ever see that happening.
