Coach Sanders Contract Extended Through 2023
Contract Extended

I doubt there is anything in the new contract that would keep Coach Sanders from jumping to a bigger pond if the opportunity arises. But, this is a good sign for continued success, and should reassure any recruits who might have been concerned.

Glad for the program and Coach Sanders. He really seems like he's at home (and he is - Morristown native) maybe he wants to stick around awhile and build something he can hang his hat on an stamp as his own. He's not doing it strictly for the money that's for sure as he was making/can make quite a bit more as a P5 coordinator so hopefully he can make a nice living, live in an area he loves, fish a little and smoke a lot of those victory cigars in the future.

Perusing the contract, it doesn’t look like there was a raise involved. Simply an extension of time as best I can tell.

I sure hope you're right. Can definitely make more money as an FBS assistant. He will do great things at ETSU so hope he stays for quite a while.

Hasn't he already been there, done that and received a t-shirt that says "I was released because my head coach lost his job"?

He controls his destiny now, not tied to a P5 head coach. I would anticipate that if he made a move it would be for another head coaching job, not as an assistant/coordinator.

I wasn't implying he'd leave for an assistant job. Was just agreeing with the prior assessment that I quoted. Agreeing that I hope he's right and he'll be here for a while until at least he makes a mark and has bigger opportunities as a head coach elsewhere.
