RE: Democrats starting to crack over the wall
What happens when Trump declares national emergency, and WINS in the courts? Dems get N-O-T-H-I-N-G and we get the wall. That possibility is in the back of chuck and nancy's minds, and it terrifies them.

Trump should ratchet up the pressure. Go from $5.7 bil back to $25 bil in exchange for DACA.

The pressure is on. There is no reason to reopen until the money is approved. Its just punting. And there is no legitimate reason not to approve the money now. Democrats have voted for wall money before. The wall works. Its all a stupid game.

And the ultimate blame is on McConnell (and a lesser extent Ryan) for not getting this resolved early. All of these budgets were for the fiscal year beginning October 1.

AOC actually had something, making some comment about Congress facing the same thing as the rest of the government.

Yeah, and Coons knows that but it's the only line he can take. He's trying to save face for the party. We get that, but it ain't happening that way. Negotiate now.

McConnell, Boehner, and Ryan have all been next to useless. I'll give Ryan a partial pass, since he made it pretty clear that he didn't want the job. But republicans have had no leadership in congress for years.

I despise Schumer, Reid, Pelosi, and all that they stand for. But they are stronger leaders than anybody republicans have had opposite them. Maybe because they are so focused on their agenda that they don't really give a damn about anything else.

Reid and Pelosi had a filibuster proof senate in addition to the House and Presidency and couldn't get a budget passed. They are all hopelessly incompetent. With Ryan, he did get a budget passed his first year as speaker, but has failed since then.

Yeah, but that filibuster-proof senate and huge house majority still had some blue dogs. They went away in 2010.
