RE: ODU @ FIU
This road win will probably loom large by season's end as CUSA looks to have no real favorite. ODU played at FIU's tempo, had 21 TOs (net +8 FIU) and put FIU on the FT line 26 times (+16) for a net advantage of 17 pts (Pts off TO + FT made). ODU may not have played at championship level, but they did show poise to overcome that big a disadvantage while a poor shooting team was hitting 3s and calls were seldom in their favor.

ODU has to figure out how to distribute their scoring more evenly (I don't like Caver shooting 10+ 3s/g either)… X still disappears for long stretches, Dickens has to hold on to RBs and Kithcart must stay in front of his man on D or he'll start losing minutes again. A consistent third double-digit scorer (which is what Godwin was becoming) and everyone else will have a much easier time.

What happened to our defense on this road trip? Both Florida teams were getting wide open threes. The fact that two teams that average 30% from long range shot lights out against us wasn't a coincidence. They are division I guards. If you give them enough open shots, they are going to make them.

There was little to no effort on our part for both games. If we play our normal game with our normal defensive effort, we win both games by double figures. Who's to blame? JJ? Players? Atmosphere?

Exactly ! FAU had all the pieces and great plays (high ball screens, pops, slides, drive and dishes) to break us down. Our defense can't maintain scoring droughts and missed opportunities.

Players aren’t executing that’s very clear and pointed out by Dave T as well JJ on post game.

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what the rule is on distracting the opponent? I noticed it was slightly off to the side, but you would think a manufactured distraction would be prohibited.

The defense vs FAU was not good. The defense vs FIU (~1 ppp) was decent, not great or bad.

We have had one from time to time. It just wasn't as big and its usually behind the bsaket. Seems I usually only see it against VCU

And it’s held by students. Big difference between students waving or spinning things and the arena staff setting up stand alone distractions.

For those like me who didn't see game last night, odusports has video highlights from game. About 2 minutes worth. The last thing shown is Caver's drive, which was blocled from right side and tipped directly to Dickens who scores with 1.1 seconds remaining.

Others have mentioned, but I was watching play by play on ESPN site last night and saw it post final score as 74-73 FIU. But it didnt show what happened the last few seconds. I waited a minute and refreshed and it showed ODU won with Dickens basket. Talk about change in emotions.

Exactly. If it was something a student or spectator was doing, that’s one thing. But this had to have been set up by the school.

Yep. I stared at that thing for long moments. It was motorized and ran at a steady rate just enough to maximize that hypnotic effect.

Questions is: If that is NCAA-legal. What is stopping a school from installing 250 of them across the entire wall along the baseline? Especially at crappy gyms like JMU and FIU who only have 15 fans.

hah it did that to me on the Rice-UTSA game. It showed Rice with the W with .1 seconds left and then all the sudden it showed Rice with a 3 and 1 second later UTSA with a 3 and the W. I was like yay, no. wtf.

They obviously pull from the same place. I watched the game and then went to scoremobile to check stats and it had FIU winning.

15 fans may be generous. I figured most of the people were tourists who were given free tickets with their hotel stay - and the rest were students who stopped by while walking back to their dorm.

I know we won and stuff, but...

With the game winding down, Caver was at the line and sunk only one of them. At this point, I thought we were going to lose this damn game because Mahd couldn't make free throws during gut-check time.

I hope no one overlooks this detail in practice, etc. It' s cost us at FAU and nearly again at FIU.

I saw this as I was getting back to my house to watch the end of the game. I felt like crap the rest of the weekend. It was not until I looked on my phone at 4:30 AM this morning that I saw the Pilot article about Djour's put back lifts Monarchs with 1.1 sec left. I thought I was dreaming. I could not go back to sleep so I got up and watched the end of the game on ESPN +

I love that. Mine was almost instant low to whew, thank you. You carried that low for too long before getting any relief.
