CNN refuses to report ...
Here's one for you...

KUSI in San Diego reports that CNN acutally asked for their opinion on the local thoughts on the wall story that they want to run..

KUSI sends them a bunch of reports about how the locals are in favor of the wall:

Quote:hursday morning, CNN called the KUSI Newsroom asking if one of our reporters could give them a local view of the debate surrounding the border wall and government shutdown.

KUSI offered our own Dan Plante, who has reported dozens of times on the border, including one story from 2016 that was retweeted by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, and posted on DrudgeReport.com. The Border Fence Tour is below.

We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most Border Patrol Agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work.

We have continuously been told by Border Patrol Agents that the barrier along the Southern border helps prevent illegal entries, drugs, and weapons from entering the United States, and the numbers prove it.

And apparently CNN then decided they weren't going to run the report... Now admittedly, it could have been cut for time issues and such.... but this is CNN.. and you know where they're trying to push public opinion toward..

If the reporter is a Newt and Drudge lackey, I'd ****-can it for that reason alone! 03-wink

That being said, if they were looking for local reaction, I would assume they wanted to hear from local citizens, not government employed border patrol agents. And what the agents said make perfect sense to me and I'm still against this additional wall funding. Yes, the wall we have now works as it's mostly in high traffic areas and at guarded points of entry. I'm all for more money to improve these areas.

CNN should have just gotten someone from the Telemundo affiliate to provide the local story. They have far more viewers than KUSI.

And CNN declined to run their story because they didn't like the truth. Walls work, the San Diego fence system work and people like it.

RESTON, VA, JANUARY 12, 2017 – Comscore (NASDAQ: SCOR) today announced it has signed a local TV measurement agreement with KUSI-TV in San Diego.

One of the nation’s most-watched Independent local television stations, KUSI will now have access to Comscore local TV ratings.
https://www.comscore.com/Insights/Press-...cape_cc=US

They have 22 reporters and anchors.

KFMB, the CBS affiliate, had the highest Nielsen ratings in San Diego County for local Monday-through-Friday newscasts at 11 a.m., 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. (The CBS national news also won the 6 p.m. half-hour.)

KUSI, an independent station, won the time periods at 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. (when three of the four major networks do not air news), and finished a close second at 6 a.m.
https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/ent...story.html

Unlike most independent stations, KUSI allocates a significant portion of its broadcast day to news programming, 8.5 hours of news every weekday.

“This is what we do better than any other station,” says Friedman.

According to Friedman, KUSI “dominated the late night news with 6.1 rating, beating all network programming combined.

Friedman says KUSI’s 10 p.m. news cast typically gets a 3 rating.

About 5 people watch the news in San Diego at 5am. I lived there from 2001 to 2005. Maybe they win the East County demographic. I'd love to see their crosstabs to see the age of their viewers. 20 other channels running programming, and KUSI being the only news station on air at 10pm, wins it. Okay. You'd think that other stations would try to compete. But they don't. Probably because winning overall with an average viewer age of 90 isn't going to be profitable. Werther's Originals probably sponsors it

I don't know anyone who watches it. I've seen it before, its apparently right wing now, but it was always just boring as hell, with awful production values.

Basically, they're probably going after the 'nearly dead' demographic, which can show up as numbers in ratings, but not in value. Basically, 30 stations run programming for the broader community. 1 station runs programming for a group that has little economic value and racks up some numbers doing so. But since no one else wants those viewers, its easy for them to be the tallest midget.

And yes, I would expect that a station with a 'nearly dead' and overwhelmingly white viewship would skew right wing.

RE: CNN refuses to report ...
Honestly though, what difference does it make who watches the channel? If a report is made and it's factual, or a reasonable opinionated piece, does it really matter?

It's a legitimate station that CNN went to, asking for a report.

They got the report... Apparently didn't LIKE the report, (again, I'm still willing to give the benefit of a doubt on this with the editing/time issue), and didn't run the report.

Doesn't make the report any less true and CNN didn't know what to do since it went against their narrative., other than to send it to file-13.

As for Tom's statement that "only 5 people watch" (yes, i know you were being a bit snarky, Tom)... but that was a really bad idea to go snark on ...

Heck, he even said it himself:

Quote:I don't know anyone who watches it. I've seen it before, its apparently right wing now, but it was always just boring as hell, with awful production values.

Since apparently he knows/knew what everyone in San Diego watched all the time

Ummm why does it matter how many watch it? They were asked to ask people who live there what they thought of the wall.... You know, the residents of the town?

Is this kind of like polling Democrats only and then proclaiming that everybody hates Trump based on our Poll? Or is it like those pesky exit polls that said Hillary was going to crush DJT?

Are you going to denounce those polls too Tom?

And CNN declined to run their story because they didn't like the truth. Walls work, the San Diego fence system work and people like it.

RESTON, VA, JANUARY 12, 2017 – Comscore (NASDAQ: SCOR) today announced it has signed a local TV measurement agreement with KUSI-TV in San Diego.

One of the nation’s most-watched Independent local television stations, KUSI will now have access to Comscore local TV ratings.
