RE: Kent golfers in the pros - 2019 Edition
The final stage of Q School has started.
Taylor Pendrith (who has some status on the Korn Ferry Tour because of his strong Mackenzie Tour run) and Chase Johnson (who has no status) are in the tournament. The first day has not been great. Pendrith finished even and is tied for 90th. Johnson went 5 over on the first 12, but has 3 birdies on 13-17 and currently sits at 2 over and tied for 131st. There is no cut and the goal is to finish in the Top 50, so a bad first day isn't the end of the world.
Ian Holt failed to advance from the second stage. Also missing and I don't know what's going on is Ryan Yip, who is now listed as an assistant coach for the Kent State golf team. I don't know if that means he is retiring from pro golf. He, of course, has accomplished more than 99.9% of the people that have ever picked up a golf club including making the cut at a PGA Tournament, so, if it is the end, congratulations on everything you've accomplished as a pro.

Ryan Yip is a full time assistant at KSU. He is no longer playing professional golf.

RE: Kent golfers in the pros - 2019 Edition
The Q School is wrapping up. Taylor Pendrith will finish tied for 30th and has earned his Korn Ferry Card, again. I don't know that this improves his status since he finished in the Top 5 of the Mackenzie Tour. He is exempt through the first 8 tournaments and will then be subject to reshuffles in the priority list. I don't know which is better (finishing 10-40 in the Q School or 2nd in the Mackenzie Tour), but a few good tournaments at the beginning of the year should keep Pendrith golfing throughout the year.
Chase Johnson finished 93rd. He started off slowly and improved throughout the week, but was way out of the Top 40. I hope he can grow after this learning experience.
In other golfing news, Corey Conners is playing the QBE shootout, which not an official PGA event, but one that he'll make some nice cashy-money at. They play with partners and Conners and his partner are currently tied for 3rd out of 12 twosomes.
