I wouldn't rule out being favored in all of them

Saw Southern Miss' schedule online. They only have 5 home games and are playing at Troy. At least we have worked it to get 6 a year.

I certainly expect us to take at least a little step backwards next year, with all the seniors we will lose, especially in both interior lines. But I could also see us being 7-0 going to Tennessee--and 10 regular season wins again is not out of the realm of possibility.

The schedule is certainly favorable for us.

I know we lose a lot of seniors, but am I crazy for looking at the schedule and thinking we go 8-4? I see losses at Tennessee, at USM, and at North Texas plus one other thrown in somewhere.

We get an open date before Tennessee. But while we're playing Tennessee, USM has an open date before we go play them at their place. That'll be a tough turnaround.

I’m thinking 8-4 as well. Losses @Akron, @Tenn, @USM, & @UNT

By the time we play UTK and USM, player attrition at critical roster spots may alter the calculus for predicting those games. If all or most of these spots remain healthy, UAB could have another record season. In 2019, the AP and Coaches Polls will be looking at the Blazers from the beginning.

I love the fact we have two byes. And I know it was already mentioned but what a brutal non-conference slate for Southern Miss.

I'm having a hard time understanding So. Miss thinking here. They're likely to be 3-5 by the time we go down there.

I see no reason why we shouldn't be undefeated going into November. Granted, the Akron game sets up on the schedule to be another Ball State/Coastal Carolina, but maybe third time's a charm??? If we aren't 7-0 come November 1, I'm disappointed. Ten wins is definitely a possibility. That Tech game at home will be crucial, because playing Mason Fine in his last game in Denton probably won't bode well for us.

so miss have a very good qb and he is quick on his passing attempt
At home many holding calls wont be a penalty and they will move the ball and score on us
i dont see us beat southern miss especially if their qb perform like he did against us this year .

Oooof. I can see us being 6-1 with a WTF loss somewhere away, and then we get the meat of our schedule where we could finish 0-5 or 5-0.

Hard to put a number on wins without seeing what the whole roster will look like but this team will probably look like a better version of the 2017 squad. 6-8 wins if they stay healthy. 9 or more if we catch lightning in a bottle. If we have massive injuries to key positions then 6. Just hard to say right now.

Yea, USM might be the best version we have faced in a while wanting revenge. That will be a tough game.
