The jerkwads already are trashing him on other threads. They got what they wanted — Carey's gone — but that doesn't seem to matter. Bottom line? We have some of the worst fans anywhere.
Next fall, anytime the Owls lose a game or make a big mistake, these people will post and say "I told you so."
Advice to Carey's successor: Don't read the Dog Pound.
Advice to NIUs fans who are apathetic and dont want the best for NIU, drive to Illinois State and be a Redbirds fan. We dont need ya
So "apathetic" for NIU during the past 6 years is running a clean program, graduating the players,
winning the majority of conference games, competing for and winning championships, and losing bowl games.
NIU should be so lucky the next coach does this....
Another thing I read in these threads is this infatuation with Coach Doeren.
I understand he had two very successful years and NIU, was fortunate the stars aligned and got an invite
to the orange bowl but I have followed him since he left NIU and his record is mediocre at best in 6 years.
I guess NC State is not "apathetic" under Coach Doeren since he is running a clean program, graduating his players,
losing the majority of conference games, not competing for championships, and winning 3 of 5 bowl games.
I think he is a good coach but he has not set the ACC on fire in 6 years.
I actually think Dino Babers might if he stays at Syracuse long enough, but I doubt he will be there long enough.
I wish I had a dollar for every post on here when someone said to fire Carey
or that Carey would never get hired for another head coaching position.
Well not only did Carey not get fired, but he got hired by another team.
Does this hiring say anything about the football acumen on this message board?
I will leave that for others to determine.
