Carey knew his only option for a big payday was moving out. The only other option for him for a bigger payday was to become an OC at a big program. There he could make millions but no on was going to take him

Somewhere between 750 and a mil

Football scoop, more confirmation on U leaving if/when he doesn't get the HC gig.

http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/

Temple: Rod Carey has now announced Fran Brown, Ed Foley and Gabe Infante will continue as on-field assistants and that he has retained Adam DiMichele who will move into an off-field role. With these three on field hires plus Craig Harmon, Jeff Knowles, Melvin Rice, Walter Stewart and Joe Tripodi, Carey now has 8 of his 10 full-time assistant positions full. NIU OC Mike Uremovich is expected to come if he doesn’t get the NIU head job. Stay tuned for more….

Nothing against Coach U personally, but his going to Temple is a big addition by subtraction for the Huskies. Much as some want to blame RC, our offensive woes fall largely on Coach U. Not very creative or imaginative play designer or caller.

I don’t think you’re going to find much disagreement there lol

I think we're looking at Co-OCs and Co-DCs, so hopefully he isn't calling plays.

You think the coaches he was saddled with are going to call the plays and not his own guys?

Good luck!

I think we're hiring another OC in addition to him. Not someone from our staff. Our OC left for GT.

We have heard similar, adding that they interviewed a number of other candidates with impressive head coaching or interim head coaching experience, and some of the highest paid CFB offensive coordinators for the job.

Would love to see the list of coaches that were actually interviewed.

Does it count as an interview if we ask those highest paid coordinators if they have any interest in the NIU head coach job and they say "No, I'll keep my high paying coordinator job"?

I was thinking the same thing. Also wondering what prior head coaches were interviewed. Someone like Butch Jones or Bobby Petrino?? Will be interesting to see what comes out after

Was interesting to compare... A couple to note:

Lovie $5M - higher than Ferentz, Franklin, Dantonio
North Texas (CUSA) coach makes $1.4M
Brian Kelly makes *ONLY* $2.1M
Terry Bowden is the 3rd lowest paid coach in the NCAA at $410K

Happened to sit next to a group of players in the dining hall today. Big take away I heard them talk about was how coach U "was the worst". They also talked a lot about Carey. Unfortuanlty not a single word was uttered about a new coach...

Sounds like we officially lost Melvin Rice? Man we will need to hire highly paid recruiters instantly to catch up on what was lost in the last month. Need to get going as we have several open roster spots in February I believe. Hope whoever we hire has assistants already in hand.

That one baffles me too. His overall record is not good but he went 8-5 in 2015 and won a bowl and went 7-7 in 2017 and won the MAC east so I thought he might be making a little more than that.

Makes no sense to me that we’re inside 18 hours of an announcement and we still don’t know who it is
