No recent MAC coaches win after their promotion besides Doeren.

Dino Babers at Syracuse and Matt Campbell at Iowa State are doing alright.

We have a press conference at 4

Our condolences. Hope you enjoyed that Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl win in 2017 because don't expect RC to get you another one during his tenure.

You guys are gonna be something else when he wins here...

I would not be surprised if he won. He will need some recruiters though.

And someone to talk him out of punting on 4th and 17 from within your own 20 in the 1st quarter. 03-wink

Our best recruiter ever just came back from Baylor (DC) and is bringing a 4* CB with him from Baylor. We hired possibly the top HS FB coach in the state as our LBC, and his former program is absolutely loaded. Our STC, who is possibly the best in the country is staying. Our QBC, who is one of our top QBs in school history is staying.

If we pony up for a top-notch OC, we're going to be really, really good.

You will know at the end of Spring if Carey is the right guy. IF NIU's scheme goes East your dead. If you keep same offensive style you will be fine. Temple is not a rebuild, you're trying to win the AAC, the talent is there.

All of them are 500 or worse. It can change but just saying. Throw clawson in there too. And I said besides doeren. I think it's big fish little pond with most of these guys.

Campbell is .500 but has improved the team and won 2 Big12 coach of the year awards. Hardly unsuccessful.

Kill was also .500 but team was pointed upward when he had to retire. Made it to 3 bowl games after his first losing season.

Babers also has team pointed in right direction. Syracuse was bad when he took over.

So none of these guys were bad hires. We will see next season if the teams continue to improve. I’ll say that there have been some failures too like Hazell at Purdue but that might come down to jumping at the money and not the right job.

Yep wait and see. Never said they are bad hires but just hard for them to find sustained success. It went back to the temple fan who assumes carey will win. Yeah hazzell and clawson another good example.

Again as of right now, none are better than 500

And Tim Beckman is the poster child for MAC coaches that failed at the next level! What was UofI thinking?

Our track record suggests he will win. Since Golden left for Miami, our head coaches have had winning percentages of .542, .549, and .600.

He wasn't my 10th choice, but he hasn't exactly been a total loser of a head coach, and his buyout shows a willingness to be here which resonates tremendously. I'm certainly going to give him a chance. All we need is someone to keep the ship steady.

I think he's going to do fine, but you've gone from hating it to defending it in like 5 days.

I don't remember saying I hated it, it just wasn't what I would've done. I understand why Pat Kraft chose him though. I think he changed his philosophy after Diaz left and wanted someone who would accept an $8M+ buyout with either HC experience, or significant coordinator experience. Elko didn't work out for personal reasons. Not sure about Don Brown. Most others were likely to leave after 2 years, which we really can't keep doing.

Assuming we're willing to shell out major money for an OC, there's no reason Carey shouldn't win a lot here.

As long as Carey has absolutely zero input on offensive/QB decisions, you will be fine. If he touches the offense, expect rot.

simply making bowl games means nothing now, any team with a winning record now makes a bowl game. and b10 schools at the bottom of the bowl list get weak games like mac competition so they should win those games.
