RE: Temple fans not liking this
It’s probably the people who drove to Detroit to yell “Fire Rod Carey!” making sock puppet accounts.

Yeah i really doubt NIU fans would do that. But the people who like Carey love to exaggerate what people say/do who don’t kiss the ground Carey walks on.

I wish some of the people on here would let the Temple people know that Bowl games mean absolutely nothing and should not be a factor when hiring a coach....

It does It counts towards the record doesnt it?

Look at Harbaugh at Michigan. Constantly loses big games at end of the season so its taking a toll.

RE: Temple fans not liking this
I agree with this comment from the Temple board:

Quote:OC Joe Rudolph has experience at both Wisconsin and Pitt. He has only 1 game as I-HC. On the other hand, his scheme fits Temple. He is a power run OC. He uses passing to exploit success.

Both choices above offer different advantages. I like OC Joe Rudolph best because he knows at least some of our recruiting area. He is a good Ohio recruiter. Finally, his scheme will work best with our current players. If Temple choices HC Carey I will not be disappointed. I just do not think it will be as successful a choice as OC Rudolph.

I just can't believe Rod interviews better than Rudolph:

https://uwbadgers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=793

Prediction: Rod get's the job ONLY if Rudolph says "no thank you" first.

Name of this thread is way overstated. Handful of mildly negative posts on the Temple board discussion, and nothing like the vitriolic crap you read on the Pound. A lot of positive comments about RC, too--a surprising number.

We have people who get UCF (CFU), USF (SFU), etc. wrong and they're in our conference. Most people don't care about anyone other than their own school.

How many bowl games did Jerry Kill win in his career, NIU and Minny?

Temple does not like NIU in general, historically have had a real problem trying to beat NIU! They are getting a great coach, who is growing as well.

UCF has lined up a guaranteed win for the rest of Carey’s contract.

Carey improves to 5-2 in the B1G when the Owls peck the Terrapins next fall.

0. What’s your point?

I guess it’s ok to never win a bowl game again because Jerry Kill never won one.

I know MD, you have historically been negative on this board but you've grown on me. The facts about Carey are just that. He has won MACC, big games, and has made mistakes as well. He is in fact growing and will do a good job at Temple. They are getting an honest man, works hard, and will win more than he losses. Carey is not failing, his contract, bank account, and win/loss record says otherwise. I am very excited to see what's instore for NIU Football in the coming year.

They should like this part even net $800k.

Temple will receive $6.5 million from losing two coaches - $2.5 million from Georgia Tech for Geoff Collins & $4 million from Miami for Manny Diaz

I grant you that the MAC championship appearances cloud things a little bit. The mistakes are just too overwhelming and repeated to look past though. Im not actively rooting for him to fail at Temple, but I just think he is in la la land if he thinks NIU was some tough place to coach and that he deserves sympathy because some fans had standards for him. If anything, Temple fans will be even more critical than NIU. The MAC championship appearances are a plus for him, but a big big negative is the state he is leaving NIU football in right now. Its going to take awhile to get this program back on track, and NIU football will be in rebuilding mode for at least a few years.

Milehigh you do have to admit though, isn't it sort of comical how everyone on this board is also preaching how the MAC is a crap conference and worst in the nation, and then they lift Carey up as Papa Bear Halas himself for winning the conference. You just can't make this stuff up sometimes.
