We Christians celebrate people like Peter, Paul and Mother Teresa... people who put their lives on the line to try and make the world a better place for others. If they only went to places accepting of their message, then their reach would have been very limited.

That's someone's choice.

If they truly believe the need to make the world a better place, that's respectable. Also doesn't make them any less dead.

One can respect someone's choice and still think they're an idiot.

On this board, if they had been Christian missionaries, no one would be calling them idiots. They would be "martyrs", for doing the exact same thing.

Pretty sure when the idiot missionary tried to spread the word to the secluded tribe known for killing anyone who tries to land on their island, he was called an idiot on this board.

The thing I find odd is all of the news articles I read on this pair(a canadian and an italian) I couldn't find anything about their political affiliation. Just they were traveling towards a humanitarian project.

The guy who went to that island recently and was killed, yeah he got dragged pretty hard for being foolish.
