71-67 is getting drilled? Basketball sure has changed.

Honestly, some of our fans could take some lessons from Heather. They come, get their free meal amd sit on their ass for two hours. Sounds like a hell of a night.
Don’t forget the rush for the cookies at halftime. For some reason that just strikes me as odd.

Going from memory ... which is obviously failing ... don't remember the game being that close.
Still ... point stands. This is not a good matchup for Kent, IMO.

RE: Kent State vs. Western Michigan
EMU's size will be a concern but we've yet to see Kent's lack of size really get exposed. Kent is 72nd in the nation in 3 point % while EMU is 248th in the country in 3 point % defense.
If not EMU who in the West would you rather play a second time if not them? EMU is the second from the bottom in the MAC on kenpom, the only one worse is WMU. Every other west team is ranked above us. So... point still stands, getting those two as our double matchups from the West is a favorable schedule.

We got a favorable draw with the MAC west schedule this year. WMU and EMU are the two teams we play twice. Currently they're the only two teams under .500 in the MAC. It will be interesting to see how we look against EMU this weekend. We've got the shooters to handle the zone but Thompson will likely give us fits.
It is my understanding that drawing up plays is strictly prohibited.

At the end of the day, I get your point. If I have my choice of teams to play twice from the west, Eastern would not be at the top of that list. They play a defense you don’t see at any other point during the year, and outside of Buffalo probably have the most talent in the league.
Under Rob Murphy, however, that has not equaled success.

I'll ask again, who would you rather play twice? EMU's zone is definitely different, but they're currently dead last in the MAC in points allowed per 100 possessions. So I don't think we should fear their defense. Part of why Kent teams have struggled in the past with the zone is because we've been post oriented. This year we're guard and perimeter oriented which matches up with zones much better.
Look, I'm not saying they're bad, I'm not saying they're a push over, or even that we're going to win. Just that no team in the MAC is a given win this year, and I'll take two against a team that's struggled more than most.

I'd take my chances with CMU or NIU any day. Almost sure to at least get a split.

So Walker and Avery leave and are immediately replaced by a PG that started out at South Carolina and a high level scorer that played at New Mexico. Sounds like a quick retooling. Thus far Sendy has made the right call on guys with troubled pasts. Hopefully he got this one right too.

Equally important ... with Roberts, and incoming Hernandez, the backcourt seems to be solidified in the class ranks.

But, that's another story that has been rehashed countless times.
Another reason why Joey should be fired. Third largest university in OH. We are not a commuter school. But look at the attendance. At least our two D4 exfootball player ADs saw the folly in letting the big donors sit baseline all game. Soon we will be back up top.

I'm trying to get Stater to do story on the big donors section / student section.
They'd talk to Nierlsen and/or Cegles, of course. Can anyone suggest other sources, especially among adult fans and/or donors themselves?
I'm also suggesting they talk to MACC Maniacs, the student group which can be effective at times. (They turned out 600 people for the first home volleyball game.)

RE: Kent State vs. Western Michigan
For what its worth, I spoke to someone at KSU who said they are removing the empty tables behind the north basket. Looks like the students (who return to campus this weekend) will have their home back in time for Jan. 19 game vs. NIU.
A better story would be to track the season ticket sales in the time since the move was made to PSLs. My neighbor is a KSU professor who was a season ticket holder for 20+ years before the switch to PSLs. She (and her family) have not been back to a game since, and I suspect that isn’t an isolated case.
