While Sagarin has Fresno State as his highest ranked G5 school, they are not his highest ranked non-P5. That honor goes to North Dakota State, which he ranks as #19 in all of Division I.

Massey does not give a rating number, like Sagarin does. So I can only use Sagarin to compute a weighted average rating for all FBS schools over the past five seasons. This is his Top 25 for that period.

All in all, there's a lot of consistency at the top over the years. The Top 7 on this list are also in the Top Ten when you use a 10 year average not weighted) for each school. The only national champions during the BCS era who are not in this Top 25 are Texas (2005) and Tennessee (1998).

To me it's remarkable how big a difference there is between #1 and #25 (three touchdowns). There may be a lot of parity in college football, but not so much at the top.
