Notice it was a Chihuahua and not a dog with European roots such as a German Shepherd, Dachshund or a Siberian Husky.

Quote:An Arkansas sheriff’s deputy was fired after shooting a barking chihuahua in the head Friday, an incident officials labeled “disheartening.”

Faulkner County Sheriff Tim Ryals said in a statement Saturday that deputy Keenan Wallace had been terminated after it was determined there were “numerous opportunities to de-escalate the incident.”

Cellphone video of the encounter shows Wallace opening fire on the dog — named Reese’s — within feet of its owner, Doug Canady. Police say the incident began following a call for service for an “aggressive” dog at Canady’s home.

Canady told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that police were called by a woman standing in the road in front of his home, who pointed a gun toward his property. When Canady told the woman to put the gun away, she complied but threatened to call authorities, he said.

He told the Democrat-Gazette that he began filming when Wallace arrived and began to approach his house.

The graphic video — which was posted to Canady’s Facebook page Friday and has been shared more than 40,000 times — shows two dogs barking and running near the deputy’s feet.

Is former deputy Keenan Wallace shooting a dog a "political" topic? If so, how?

RE: Chihuahua Shooting
A dog threatening to attack is..... a dog threatening to attack.

The only dogs that have bitten me in the last thirty years have been 3 **** chihuahuas. And the last one to do so got place kicked about ten feet. The owner tried to sue me for vet bills, until I threatened a countersuit for her dog's battery.

Sorry, *any* dog that is going to attack me is going to get that treatment. I have no problems with a police officer doing this to any dog that is threatening them.

And, it doesnt help chihuahuas have among the lowest scores of any breeds for docility and non-violent temperament and are among the most aggressive.

Chihuahuas near bottom in dog temperament

Chihuahuas most likely to bite vets

Chihuahua most aggressive dog breed

Quote:In almost every measure, out of the 35 most common breeds, Chihuahuas were reported as the most aggressive, especially toward bigger dogs they have not seen before.

The linked video only shows the aftermath. The viewers have no opportunity to see what happened prior to *after* the shooting.

And yes, if the dog was in fact attacking the deputy damn straight he has justification for firing.

Edited to add:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn0HgkBVKBI

The owner was refusing to call the dog off, the owner was refusing to step to road to help the cop keep clear of the dog. The dog was very clearly barking and threatening the officer. When the owner refuses to call the dog off and refuses to come to the road, the officer is forced to move forward into the dog. The owner had every opportunity to call the dog off and was warned.

Yes, the officer was justified.

Edited to add:

The reaction was not the *best* reaction, even though the actual reaction is justified.

The *best* reaction would have been to call animal control and impound the little yappers, arrest the homeowner for assault of a police officer based on the dog and the refusal of the owner to control the dog, and issue at least three citations for refusal to follow a legal command. That would be the *best* reaction.

Let the dickweed home owner pay the pound 400 dollars to get his yappers back, post 1000-1500 dollars bail on the assault charge, and pay another 600 in fines for the refusal citations. Maybe then the homeowner wouldnt be such a complete douche and would actually control his dogs next time when called for by the police. And the douchebag homeowner wouldnt get sympathy points for his refusal to control his dogs.

That would be the *best* result, no doubt.

I take it you have never been bitten by an animal. It’s always the little dogs that are most likely to attack.

If they are aggressive like that, and the owner refuses to call it off, and the owner refuses to come to the officer --- yes.

Easy answer.

So tell me, oh so sage one, what should the officer have done?

As opposed to your dumb*** 'yee haw' comments, i see nothing at all from you on that. Or, is that all you are capable of?

I guess you are fine with a dog attacking an officer.

I guess you are fine with the douchebag homeowner refusing to call the dog off or, for that matter, even lift a fing finger to control the little ****.

I guess you are fine with the douchebag homeowner refusing to come to street, as the cop attempts to do what he needs to do with the homeowner without further provoking the snapping little ****.

Given those three options, what exactly would you do?

I've stated the *best* option would be to call animal control and have them impound the dogs. If the homeowner resists animal control doing that, lock him up for interfering with a peace officer.

Then the deputy should have cited and arrested the homeowner for assault based on his failure to control the dog. Then he should have cited the douchenozzle for failure to follow a lawful command.

But, the shooting of the dog, was absolutely justified given the situation.

I guess you think not. All you seemingly can say is 'yee haw' crap. Funny that you dont fing try to even address the situation as shown.

But do what seems to get your rocks off in this thread and type 'Yee Haw', 'So just shoot them' and other lines of non-pertinent crap.

Good for you.
